van Gaal. Only teams in the world that fall for this shit and get raped are Spain/Barca.
Clockwork must be rotating in his grave.
that really looks as if LvG is using this World Cup as a tactical test run for coaching in the Premier League

I know it's Australia but had Spain approached the first two games like this with a similar line up perhaps they'd be going forward.

Yep! But please, keep telling me how underwhelming this Dutch team is.
Oh also honorable mention to Blind in this game, and Memphis is an absolute BEAST. Blind though really marked Sanchez right out of the game almost.

That's why I asked...the Netherlands weren't giving Chile any space and they've been doing the same thing all tournament. They lay back in the first half and then take over in the second. Worked for all three games so far.

Re: World Cup: Group B discussion
LvG purely a tactical victory that was.
now after this match I dont think many Brazilians will be wishing to face us in the 16
Chile I think has a huge weakness in their lack of tall of players. Brazil could exploit that. Eventhough I am an Oranje I really want this Chilean side to go as far as they can in the tournament. Even if it means bye bye brazil.

I think Chile will give Brazil all they can handle. I would even call Chile the favourites if not for their inability to defend set pieces. As it is I think that Chile should still beat Brazil if they play.
I am still wary of Croatia though...they are a dangerous team. I would much rather face Mexico.

I wonder if Robben will be able to keep this up. He's been the best player of the WC so far.

Meh. A physical hoofball Brazil side is exactly what Chile will fail against. They remain a tactically brave, hardworking team with 2 overrated stars and a 3 man defense consisting of Nottingham Forrest, Cardiff and Osasuna players.

I gotta eat some humble pie, I either underrated the dutch or overrated Chile.Even though you lot are hating and hoping Chile KO us I will be cheering for the Netherlands and hope they reach the final, for obvious reasons.
And lol at Chile knocking us out, it will be one hell of a tough game but Chile always flop vs Brazil.

Re: World Cup: Group B discussion
I dunno. The last two games they played were 2-2 and 2-1 and Chile got a red card. It is going to be a very close, and I think that Chile have performed better at this WC. Brazil's back-line is very suspect, and I think they will struggle against the heavy pressing of Chile.
That said if they can take advantage of the set-pieces they will probably be able to beat Chile. They just look awful on set pieces.

He has been the best IMO for a long stretch of the season. Completely carried Bayern on his shoulders by scoring goal after goal which were vital. Also has the highest assists this season for Bayern. Almost all big matches for Bayern have been decided by him.
League Title & German Cup & a CHL Semi Appearance. Had Pep not been obsessed with poor tactics involving possession maybe Bayern could have won the CHL too.
Has been fantastic this season. Best player in the World and best player in the WC. It's unreal how every game he scores or assists or is the MOM for his team with vital contribution.

Yep...Robben has really stepped it up over the last two years. No question. I've never been a huge fan of his, but it's hard not to be in awe of how he completely takes over games when he is on -- and he has really been on lately.

Re: World Cup: Group B discussion
I called it, Chile game to be the hardest out of the three. I expect the game against Mexico to be similar to the Chile game although I rate Chile slightly higher. This is by no means going to be easy, especially since I believe the climate is going to be harsh (compared to the other games played by the Netherlands until now).
3 Games, 9 points, 10 goals, 3 goals conceded (2 of which where wrongly given penalties).

- Spoiler:
- I'm so glad Barça don't play like this.
