Re: World Cup: Group B discussion
I felt more upset for Australia being eliminated than Spain. what a fight they put together vs Netherland. unlucky they being in this group....
On the positive note, Brazil now have a tough opponent (i hope Chile wont surrender) no matter who they face.

Re: World Cup: Group B discussion
Teams like the Netherlands are choke artists. the world cup isn't the CL where the 5 zeros and 7 zeroes matter much. the knock out round are an entire proposition altogether!.. tipping Brazil to bring their 'A' game to the knock out stages. I usually fear teams that never start out too well in group stages but still are able to grind out results regardless. if history is anything to go by Neymar would boss the knock out stages. just like the libertadores, confederations cup, and Olympics (regardless of the fact that Brazil didn't win). just like romario and Ronaldo Lima. always underwhelming in the group stages, in fact Ronaldo had just one goal in the group stages in 98 with a group involving morocco, scotland, and Norway (even with a far more talented team than this current one). Buh alas he was still the player of that tournament. guys like neymar know how to turn it up at the right moment (sometimes all it requires is just one moment of memmerizing brilliance, and who else could be better for that kind of mojo?)...this squad is very young so let's cut them some slack. i also believe in oscar and..wait for it FRED. Brazil to knock the Netherlands out of the WC. you heard it here first.

Chile V Netherlands tomorrow going to be cracker for first place and both would want to avoid Brazil in KO round.

Van Gaal accuses Fifa to be unfair about the schedule of final round where Brazil will play already knowing their possible opponents in knockoput stage...
Louis van Gaal has claimed that the World Cup fixture has given Brazil an unfair advantage. Van Gaal’s gripe revolves around the fact that the scheduling of the last round of group games means that Brazil will know their likely last 16 opponents before they kick off. “FIFA plays these tricks and it’s not a good thing. It’s not fair play. We’re going to focus on a victory against Chile and I don’t think that will be affected by the fact Brazil will play after us. I am just assuming they (Brazil) will do their sporting duty. Why on earth are they (FIFA) doing that (with the match schedule)? That is the question,” said the soon to be Manchester United manager.

Re: World Cup: Group B discussion
thats a no brainer that They want Brazil in the final or at least as deep as they can into the tournament. So it was inevitable and least surprising that fixtures are scheduled that way.
But having said that Whatever happen in the first match (C vs H), if Brazil deliberately go down to that Cameroon side (to get a favourable draw in the round of 16) which got spanked by Croatia 0-4, then its going to only do more harm than any good for them.

Re: World Cup: Group B discussion
This whinning from Van Gaal makes no sense to me. I mean if it was Chile making the complain it would make more sense. Because both Brazil and Netherland have the same preferrence, (i guess) to avoid each other. so why it matters who are playing first. even if Brazil play late they would prefer to avoid them.

^ its true this I have to admit
But then again will Brazil really prefer facing Oranje? Chile can prove a tougher opponent for them imo.

Re: World Cup: Group B discussion
They have a very good historical record against Chile. I don't think that they want to chance going out to the Netherlands again so soon, especially with how shaky their team has looked.
Netherlands should beat Chile today though.

Re: World Cup: Group B discussion
Actually, most brazillians want to face Netherlands and not Chile.Chile looks like a better team tbh and they will have a lot of fans in the stadium which would make home advantage null for us.
About the Van Gaal vs Scolari thing, looks like the gods of football will also want a BRA vs HOL game now lol.I usually don't agree with that Scolari has to say, but this time he is right. You can't have 4 teams playing at the same time in the WC.Someone has to know who they are going to face in R16 before their match and that team happens to be us.
What makes LVG's statement even more idiotic is that if Felipao actually decided to give away the result to Cameroon, there would be a possibility of us crashing out.

Re: World Cup: Group B discussion
I don't think it matters either way because I think both Netherlands and Chile will beat Brazil if/when they play, but the Netherlands with their 5 - 3 - 2 would be a worse match-up for Brazil. So easy for RVP and Robben to terrorize that mistake prone backline and suffocate their attacks with numbers.
I read that people think Portugal is the best counter-attacking team in the world, but right now I don't see a team countering better than the Netherlands.
We'll see though. Anything can happen in any game at the world cup and in tournaments where 1 match determines whether you go through or not.

Netherlands at HT:
Possession: 27 %
Passing accuracy: 62 %
Successful passes: 58
Shots on target: 0
van Gaal. Only teams in the world that fall for this shit and get raped are Spain/Barca.
Clockwork must be rotating in his grave.

Are you watching the game? Lens and Kuyt out there instead of Depay and Huntelaar lol.
On top of which Netherlands has had some decent scoring chances while Chile hasn't created anything.

that really looks as if LvG is using this World Cup as a tactical test run for coaching in the Premier League
