This Croatia team should pass the group stage.

Great win by Brazil , First game are always tricky. However I wasn't impressed by Fred.

Paulinho, Alves and Hulk's places in the first team must be in danger.

Fernandinho, Maicon and Willian can't be far away from starting if they carry on like that.

EDIT: Are people really debating the 3rd goal? Unreal tackle by Ramires ffs. Not his fault Rakitic is unathletic and can't sense danger quickly enough.

A few decisions went against Croatia.

Because every goal matters. I'm sure Croatia care if they don't get out due to goal difference.

The Oscar goal was a result of a non call by Ramires and Fred flopped for the 2nd goal. props to Brazil for putting away those 2 chances, but I hate the fact the first game ended by two great sides and it seems to have been decided by the ref.

Good start of the World Cup IMO.

Croatia were good till midfield as they have almost no strikers to rely on.  That self goal was too hilarious to be honest. Neymar and Oscar was MOM for me. Good show by Olic and Rakitik as well. That penalty was 50-50 and might not have been given , that which changed the game entirely. However Croatia did not threaten the Brazil defender which i was praying for , too bad.

Brazil will easily win their remaining matches i suppose.

The Brazil midfield is kinda weak there with Hulk and Fred pissing their pants in front doing almost nothing. I saw Marcelo and Luiz hitting the ball more then these two Brazil striker in the opponent third half.  I wonder what is Paulinho role here , neither i see him playing as DM nor picking the ball and pushing it at flanks. Total waste.  Also Brazil attack is more of a Oscar threatening with pace plus Neymar magic. If Naymer fails then Brazil will really have to struggle to win a game at Knock out stages. Too bad for Brazil and this thing everyone knows. From now on Naymer will be out of the game most of the time [ expecting , with 2-3 man marking him out of the game ] , the way people keep Messi out of the game in World Cups. Now its the other players , yes counting Fred and Hulk to take advantage of this and score goals for Brazil. But again i think Marcelo and Luiz will be more available then these two lazy strikers Laughing

Cameroon vs Mexico on today.

Haven't watched either of them play for years, they look weak on paper to me, interesting to see how their quality actually seems on the pitch tonight.

Cameroon to win narrowly, they looked good defensively against Germany and Mexico don't convince me at all but they will still make it hard for Cameroon without a doubt.

There's also Netherlands vs Spain later.

Paulinho was fine, Hulk is mainly in the team for his defense and Scolari put him on the left to make Srna a non-factor and he won't be dropped.

Alves maybe but even so i doubt it, Maicon isn't any better from what i have seen since he left Inter, both are passed it IMO.

Hulk will go back to the right and do his usual Alves covering job, you're reaching if you think any changes at all will be made.

lel Not this "if you touch the ball first everything else doesn't matter" Internet myth again. You can get sent off even without touching the opponent at all and winning the ball. See Kompany against Yanited in 11/12 or 12/13 (don't remember which season it was). If touching the ball first and hacking the player down afterwards was a legit way of defending my grandmom would look like prime Maldini. Laughing

So, I guess taking out Rakitic in the process, allowing Oscar a clear path on goal doesn't matter? huh?

Rakitic should consider himself lucky he was not given a card for impeding Ramires.

You know why defending has gone to shit if players should be getting penalized for actually winning the ball now. Who cares if he smashed him after? It was a 50-50 challenge ffs.
