Mehdi Benatia has denied saying he wants to leave Roma, but admits he is disappointed by the wage offer from the club.

The 27-year-old joined Roma from Udinese last season and is reportedly attracting interest from Barcelona and Manchester City after an impressive first season at the club.

While Roma coach Rudi Garcia has ruled out selling Benatia, who still has four years left on his contract, the defender himself is upset about the offer of new wages at the club.

In comments reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Morocco international is quoted as saying: "I never said I want to leave. But Roma have not kept their promises. They had told me that they would make me a new contract offer if I had a great season.

"But I have received an unacceptable proposal, less than €3million per season. I replied that I would not sign it.

"I'm in love with Rome, I'm very fine here but my mistake was to be too correct with the club and too honest."

Regarding speculation about him leaving, he added: "I only said that anyone dreams of teams like Real, Bayern and City.

"My agent is doing his job, I could leave but I could also stay and finish my career in Roma. But I was disappointed (with the new wage offer), I deserved more respect."

He will get plenty of appearances due to the amount of games we will play next season. I hope he knows he is only a back up before he comes or else I'd like him to examine his head. He won't start over BBC and when Jese comes back he will probably be further down the pecking order but any sort of depth is welcome

Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta has admitted that Real Madrid have expressed an interest in signing Arturo Vidal - but says his club have no intention of selling the midfielder.

The Chile international signed a contract extension in December that binds him to the Bianconeri until 2017 but he has still been continually linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu over the past six months.

However, Marotta is adamant that there is no chance of Vidal departing for the Spanish capital - unless the 27-year-old asks to leave.

"Real Madrid showed interest in Vidal, but never made a formal offer," Marotta told reporters on Wednesday.

"We are going to keep our players, as long as they want to stay here."

Indeed, Marotta insists that Vidal's midfield partner, Paul Pogba, who is being tracked by French champions Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League outfit Chelsea, will also still be in Turin next season.

"I'm absolutely sure that we'll manage to get him to sign a new contract very soon," he revealed.

Turning his attention to transfer targets, Marotta admitted that Juve are keen on Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez.

"We like him very much but we didn't make any formal move so far," the 57-year-old explained.

Juventus will try and close a deal for Morata by June 2nd, according to Sky Italia. They will try and sign him on loan with an option to buy permanently and with an option for Real Madrid to buy him back.

Absolutely and utterly unsurprised by this. If Southampton really are demanding a fee above £25m then I say let them have him and move on to the next target (which is apparently Shaqiri who Bayern have said isn't for sale... so I guess move on to the next target).

Sportyou is just an info website, not reliable at all for my money. never cared to read anything they say because my clubs info never come from there. In general you want to check the name of the journalist printing the story and see if he has a good reputation.

edit: spanish press that have ni real inside do a lot of conjectures and rehash the same stories until there is new development. unsurpringly, both players been linked with both clubs before

Inter Milan also interested in Atletico Madrid midfielder Mario Suarez along with Napoli, according to Sky Italia. They made an offer which had Guarin and/or Alvarez as part of the deal, however the response was negative.
