true dat!Forza wrote:Yeah, but Xavi is no Zlatan. Some drive a Fiat and some drive a Ferrari. That's how it is. Zlatan would not send Zlatan's brother to deliver Zlatan's shirt in Zlatan's Ferrari. Zlatan thinks he should take it.dostoevsky wrote:I feel that people are being very harsh on Xavi, this is hardly an unusual step to take. If Ibra had given someone a signed Ibra jersey as a retirement gift, people would be calling him a lad. This is a personal touch from one legend of the game to another and I've no doubt Zanetti greatly appreciates it.

How can someone find issue with what Xavi did for Zanetti is trully beyond me.
If anything , this is a beautiful gesture , from one great player to another , in honour of both . That Xavi send his brother is supposed to mean what exactly? Do you think Xavi scratches his balls all day maybe?
He is a proffesional player , which means he's working and can't leave his place , just like any other dude who works and can't fly out of the blue to Milan just for a gift , simple as . I mean really , some people

Exactly, there is nothing wrong with what Xavi did tbh.

Agreed Dosto I can ' t understand really these controversies
I could understand just if Zanetti had asked this kit but thid was a spontaneous thought by Xavi
Much appreciated as Interista. A legend who respect another legend.

I am with Devi on this. Shame on Xavi. Zanetti is not someone Xavi can reward with a mere Barca shirt. Javier is too big a legend for that. If the one being gifted was some like Jose Pinto it would have been just fine. But come on, here we are talking about a legend. A man who was with Inter for decades. A captain who won everything that was to be won with Inter.

Footballers send their jerseys as good will gestures all the time. Here is Ronaldinho posing with C. Ronaldo's jersey:
He posted it on Twitter and wrote: “Guys, look what I got from Cristiano Ronaldo. I love this!”
Completely normal.

Xavi
And Xavi hasn't? he's been with Barca forever, won everything there is to be won with barca, plus a world cup and an extra CL cup. He's actually more accomplished than Zanetti and as great as Javier is, Xavi was a better player in his prime than Zanetti. you talk like Xavi is Xabi.
Imagine if someone like Xavi considered you good enough to accept your shirt as a gift.
Besides, Zanetti doesn't seem to insulted.

LOL. Please. Xavi is a far greater footballer than Zanetti. Xavi was the absolute best at his peak and was the centre of the club and national teams that dominated their respective stages. Zanetti should be glad that Xavi even considered him when he was giving out his jersey.

Ryan Giggs rated Javier Zanetti as the best defender faced.jibers wrote:LOL. Please. Xavi is a far greater footballer than Zanetti. so this your thought looks like an exagerration for me , I am not so suprised for this gesture, the legends respect always each other (as Xavi did, i didn't wait to read even controversies for it lol), , and the value of Zanetti is widely recognized by best players.

Re: 2013/14 Calcio: The Final Chapter
I honestly found it mildly annoying.
Like this Barca player thinks he's god given...To appreciate his career, his legendary status, amazing accomplishments over 2 decades of professional football...I'll just send him my jersey.
A letter would be much better.

Re: 2013/14 Calcio: The Final Chapter
so . now that kids went to sleep .
A simple and common amongst football players gesture of respect , doesn't have to come from someone's achievement status to make it be valid , that's not even a good arguement to begin with. A good gesture is what it is , i find it ridiculous as to how some took this as an offense at Zanetti , not to mention even himself looks surprised in a good way about it (in the pic) . Like i said earlier , it honours both.
Xavi even sent his own brother in person to hand him over his gift ; how more obvious this has to be for people to realise that Xavi only wanted to show his respect and that this was quite important to him ?
If this still doesn't make it clear , then no words will.
