rumour was out yesterday, now Sky having an interview with WHUFC's chairman, saying a loan deal for Parker is an option ...replacement for Essien I guess.....it looks as he'll miss the entire season

chelsea-prepared-to-pay-pound-15m-for-tough-guy-tiote.

Chelsea prepared to pay £15m for tough-guy Tiote
Simon Johnson
13 Jul 2011

Chelsea have made an official enquiry to Newcastle over midfielder Cheik Tiote as they step up their search for a replacement for the injured Michael Essien.

Standard Sport revealed in May Tiote would be one of their targets to freshen up the squad which failed to win a trophy last season but their need is even greater now Essien will be out for up to six months due to a knee problem.

The 25-year-old made a huge impact in his first season in the Premier League after joining from FC Twente for £4.5million last summer.

A number of clubs, including Chelsea, were monitoring his progress in January and it prompted Newcastle to sign him up to a new six-and-a-half year contract a month later.

But Chelsea, as they have shown with their pursuit of Tottenham's Luka Modric, haven't been put off by a player committing to a long-term deal.

It is believed Newcastle will demand £15m for the Ivory Coast international, a fee Chelsea will be prepared to pay because of his age and potential.

Andre Villas-Boas has made signing a combative midfielder a priority following Essien's injury with Porto's Joao Moutinho and West Ham's Scott Parker also on the list of potential targets.

I wonder what Mole's reaction gone a be after seeing the news?

skill and ability wise moutinho would be the best option but of course his price would be huge
and although scotty parker was great last season was it just a flash in the pan? and also hes definitely on the wrong end of 30, but couldnt say no to a loan deal, but not to buy him
Tiotes got potential for sure and is young too, 15mil is reasonable but he'd be a big win if we got him to 12-13mil

He will think a 20 mil profit is even better even if its a season later.

I think he will atleast demand 20mil if he is to sell Tiote this season.

for 22mil we got rameres and i dont think tiote is in that same bracket, but given how desperate chelsea are for a CM after not getting modric then u think the fat man might get it his way

YA but unlike Rameires Tiote is proven in the PL and had a great season lat year. Also u are not dealing with a sane person. So looking for fair price for Tiote is waste of time.this isn't to say he isn't a quality player.

AVB happened. Lukaku was never needed and I think AVB saw that and put a halt to it.
