Re: PFA Awards 13/14
Do you expect Jedinak to get the nod ahead of the likes of Gerrard, Yaya, Fernandinho, Barkley, Ramsey, etc.?
It's Rodgers followed by Pulis or Bruce for me.
No, it isn't. Even from a rational standpoint, if we don't win the league, we'll finish 2nd or 3rd.. 5/4 places better off last season. On the other hand, you have Everton who will most likely finish 5th, just a place ahead of their last position.El Gunner wrote:I think it's pretty clear enoughExtremistEnigma wrote:Henderson deserved to be in the YPOTY list.Elaborate please.El Gunner wrote:If Liverpool win the league then it's Rodgers'.

By this logic, Martinez shouldn't win it if Everton don't make the CL either.El Gunner wrote:If Liverpool win the league then it's Rodgers'.

Either way, I think this should be Rodgers' award. Its no joke to go from 7th to 1st(or 2nd - they won't finish lower than 2nd imo).c

Re: PFA Awards 13/14
Forget about where teams finish for a second. Statistically this Liverpool side are fast looking likely to being the best attacking side the PL has ever seen. Already broken a bunch of goalscoring records and look very likely to beat Chelsea 103 goal record as well.
Just for that alone a manager deserves to win the award for their record breaking season regardless of where they finish.

The only true defensive midfielder that plays the game like Jedinak from the list is Fernandinho, who in my opinion has been inferior to Miles. Gerrard and Ramsey have probably earned there spot more so then Jedinak, but I do truly believe that he has the right to compete with Yaya and Fernandinho.
I'm not saying that he should be on TOTY but when I'm seeing Toure and Fernando being mentioned countless times over him I think it's a little harsh taking into consideration his contribution to Palace this year.
Then again this could just be my bias towards Jedinak, being Australian.

Re: PFA Awards 13/14
Nevertheless, Martinez has still done a magnificent job. Came in and improved Everton's quality of play. More running and pressing then ever before. More possession football and attacking then ever before. Their first big fight for a CL spot since they made it in 05/06.ExtremistEnigma wrote:Do you expect Jedinak to get the nod ahead of the likes of Gerrard, Yaya, Fernandinho, Barkley, Ramsey, etc.?No, it isn't. Re: PFA Awards 13/14
It's voted for by the players and clearly they're more willing to overlook his numerous mistakes this year, while the others centre backs more deserving haven't been hyped up enough.
Terry, Mertesacker, Lovren and Jagielka have arguably had better seasons.
