Re: The new and improved Cristiano Ronaldo fan club thread
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is currently the best player in the world.
The Champions League holders are set to host the Reds on Tuesday night knowing a win would take them into the knockout stages of European football's premier club competition.
And Rodgers is aware of the threat Ronaldo will pose, though he is not underestimating the rest of Los Blancos' squad.
"Ronaldo is, at this moment in time, the best player in the world," he told reporters.
"He will tell you himself it is very much about the team. They have some outstanding players in [Karim] Benzema, Isco, [Luka] Modric and [Toni] Kroos.
"He is the catalyst of that team and let's hope he doesn’t score too many more tomorrow."
The Anfield outfit travel to the Spanish capital having won just once in their last four outings but still with their Champions League hopes in their own hands.
Basel's defeat to Ludogorets on matchday three has left both teams level on points with Rodgers' side, and though wins in their final two matches would likely see the Merseyside team through to the last 16, the former Swansea City boss has not written off claiming a victory at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"It’s a wonderful arena – one of the iconic grounds in the world. When you come up against the best opponents then that’s the challenge.
"We see it as an opportunity. We’re not coming here expecting to lose and then try win the other games.
"The key is to be compact, very disciplined and to close the spaces. When you have the ball you then have to create the problems yourself."
The question atm is not whether he will score or not, but how many Rodgers

But, he's assuming his team is even gonna score, they struggle to create anything...........
Ronaldo has outscored his TEAM.
That's just an odd thing to say, especially from him.

I could see it now, 2 goals from Balo and a penalty from Gerrard in what was an exercise in efficiency. 3 goals from 4 shots. Perfect counter attacking in a 3-1 victory over the reigning UCL champs rejuvenating their season which ends up in finishing 2nd in the EPL after going on a 13 match winning streak including victories @ Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford and Emirates. Whilst having a fairy tale run in the UCL making it the semis which they lose to Bayern on penalty kicks.
Or they actually get their asses handed to them later today and continue their not so great campaign this season.

CR needs one more goal to break Raul's record (This is if you include his one goal in a CL qualifier).
Not counting goals in the qualifying rounds he will need two.

Re: The new and improved Cristiano Ronaldo fan club thread
Yesterday was the worst performance I've seen from C. Ronaldo in quite some time. Can't blame him for not scoring, but he didn't really contribute to anything else that was positive. Fell to the ground too easily a few times, gave away possession more often than not. Not his best day in the white kit.

Re: The new and improved Cristiano Ronaldo fan club thread
Cristiano Ronaldo claims he is in the best form of his life after a blistering start to the season.
The 29-year-old has scored 23 times in 17 games this term as Real Madrid have romped to the top of La Liga and already reached the last 16 of the Champions League.
Having enjoyed a stellar 2014 - blighted only by a World Cup group stage exit with Portugal - the Champions League winner and Copa del Rey victor was humble about his record-breaking efforts.
"Perhaps this is the best form I’ve ever been in but every year I try to improve on the previous one," he told reporters as he picked up Marca's Pichichi award for top goalscorer and the Alfredo Di Stefano award for best player in 2013-14.
"There will come a time when I cannot improve but I will at least be able to step up in terms of my figures. My statistics, in goals and assists, aren’t so bad.
"I want to keep learning and working hard in the same way I have been doing up until now."
Ronaldo is favourite to beat the likes of Germany and Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, Argentina and Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, and Netherlands and Bayern winger Arjen Robben to this year's Ballon d'Or award in January, which would see him claim the accolade for the third time in his career.
"Winning an award for a second or third time is always good," the Seleccao skipper added. "My objective is always to win collectively, with the team, but also individually.
"I work very hard to be able to reach the level needed to win every kind of trophy. Playing football is what I enjoy and I will never tire of winning things."
Ronaldo has been selected in Portugal's squad to face Armenia in Friday's Euro 2016 qualifier before they clash with Argentina - and Messi - in a friendly at Old Trafford on November 18.
