Tottenham midfielder Paulinho could leave the club just a year after joining from Brazilian side Corinthians after reports emerged that he would like a move to Chelsea following this summer’s World Cup.

Paulinho has been selected in Luis Felipe Scolari’s Brazil squad for the home World Cup, but he could be on his way to Stamford Bridge soon after with the club identifying the 25-year-old as an ideal replacement for Frank Lampard.

Jose Mourinho has reportedly convinced owner Roman Abramovich to meet the Costa's £32million buyout clause as he looks to make up for a trophyless campaign next year.

And now reports in Spain suggest Atletico boss Diego Simeone has turned his attention to Santos front man Damiao, who has been linked with a move to Spurs over the last 18 months.

Despite him only joining the Brazil giants in January, Atletico are prepared to offer £10m for him when the transfer window reopens.

It's something we'll sit down and talk about in the summer. At this stage in my career I need to be playing. I don't want to be sat on the bench next season, so that is something we will discuss in the summer.

No thanks to Paulinho, he's been so poor for Spurs.

As for Berty, he is basically saying "Sell me, I want to play".

He was really good in Confederations cup. Just like Oscar , Paulinho is just not giving his best for Spurs. Looks like most of the Brazilians are lying low for the WC. Smile

Think that'll depend. If we sign another LB (likely, I think), it would free up Azpi for the right, enabling Iva to play CB if needed. If not, I can't see Mourinho going into a season he, let's face it, very likely needs to win a trophy in to keep his job with just Cahill, an aging JT and 2 unproven youngsters as centre-half options.

It was a high price. But he's more than justified it since. Unfortunately, more wunderkinds fail to fully live up than make it. Lukaku (and Rooney, for that matter) are the exception, not the rule. It's a huge risk.

32 goals in 76 appearances (which includes his brief Chelsea cameos out of position) in the Premier League. Even if he doesn't play a single minute for us ever again, we're certain to sell him for more than was paid for him.

I'd have liked Luke here, being a fan and all, being English, and being undoubtedly a huge prospect, but £30m for a position that's one of our least in need of addressing, and indeed where we've had arguably the best and most consistent performances out of all the team this season, when so many other crucial areas of the squad need strengthening, is just imprudent and, in the era of FFP, undoable.
