Good question, but then, it wasn't every situation and in *this* situation he did the fair thing.

never understood because the referee equally  gave the penalty kick  although Fowler said  that there wasn't .

Fair play to the referee as well. Some referees are asses and stick with their decisions.

It did, once over, it's a rarity in modern football.

Certainly, but I guess it would depend on the score and if they were victorious in the end.

He clearly dived though, and so he could afford doing it otherwise he would've been lambasted everywhere. Not to mention Bremen were leading by 2 goals. It's like shooting someone in the knee and claiming that he or she had the chance to shoot the victim in the head but didn't, and people applauding him for not doing that.

Now, if suppose he dived a bit more professionally like Ronaldo or Neymar, and Bremen were not leading, would he have done that? Definitely not.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find any club recently that has won a major title without having benefited somewhere along the way from a contentious decision due to gamesmanship.

The thing with policing diving is in its difficulty judging it, especially in game time. Retrospective punishment, where a panel off judges determine if it was a dive or not and punish the players perhaps could work, but it's of little justice to a team that may lose a match through a dive for a penalty.
