Ancelotti pre match:
Carlo Ancelotti previewed his side's game against Sevilla in front of the press. The Italian analysed the league encounter at the Sánchez Pizjuán: "The side were fine before the Clásico and they still are. This is one of the best sides in the world and we will continue to show it until the end of the season. The game against Sevilla is important and dangerous because the opponents are playing well, and will be spurred on following the European derby, but we have a good chance to come back strongly and with spirits high, because there's no time to reflect on what happened".
“We are trying to forget the Clásico and prepare well for the game against Sevilla. The side trained well today and the mood is good. We have quality and we are conscious of the importance of this game. We are going to try and win because it's more important to think in the game that you are going to play, rather than the one you just played. In the Clásico we made small mistakes, but we played well. We had the chance to win it. We didn't come off the field happy, but our spirit is good".
Self-criticism post Clásico
"We have done, as always. If you want to improve you must analyse errors. They were small details that resulted in the loss, but in general we played a good game. It is not a question of looking for those responsible or pointing the finger for the loss".
“It game following 31 undefeated games and we must now look forward. We are fighting in all competitions and in the league we have the same points at Atlético and one more than Barcelona. It is more important to look at the next games".
Games against Atlético and Barcelona
“I'm not pleased because we have a very competitive side and we didn't do well, but the league table speaks for itself. We are still at the top and no more. It is hard to explain what's happened".
“THE DETERMINATION AND CONCENTRATION HAVE TO BE AT THE MAX AGAINST SEVILLA" .
“Only in one game we didn't compete well. It was against Atlético at home, and we deserved to lose, and one half against Barcelona in the Camp Nou. The last two were even ties. We must be objective".
Comments post-Clásico
“Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos didn't disrespect anyone. They expressed their opinion and I understand that. I prefer not to think only about referees who get things wrong and no more. We didn't have any luck, especially in Ramos' case. We will try to get the decision reversed and hopefully the Committee will revoke the unjust card. We didn't have a lot of luck with this referee in other games either".
The referee for the final of the Copa
“It's not my place to talk about that. There's a Committee, and they designate these things, and it's not my place to talk about it. It doesn't matter to me if Undiano referees. I have an opinion about referees and here it is more difficult, like in Italy because they can't work freely and this harms them in games. It doesn't matter to me if we are harmed more or less".
Di María's absence and Benzema's performance
“We can replace Di María with Illarra or Isco. It is a decision we'll take tomorrow. Benzema is fine. He played brilliantly against Barcelona and understood the reason for the change perfectly".
The stamp by Busquets on Pepe
“I just think that if it was the other way round I don't know what would have happened. After all I have heard about Pepe... if it was the other way round I don't know what would have happened. Real Madrid won't report it because it's not our style".
Solutions to the right back slot
“Sergio Ramos and even Nacho could play if Carvajal is injured for the end of the season".
Prediction:
Sevilla 1-3 Real Madrid

This game is today not Saturday. So don't think anybody will be unfit for the Dortmund game. We are lucky we play Rayo at home on Saturday we could play the b team and still win

Re: Sevilla vs Real Madrid discussion
Real Madrid centre-back, Sergio Ramos will not feature in Wednesday evening’s La Liga clash against his former club, Sevilla, after the RFEF Appeals Committee ratified the decision of the Competition Committee to uphold the one-match ban the Spanish international received after being booked for a red card in last Sunday’s El Clasico loss to Barcelona.
The Committee stated that they supported referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco’s decision to book Ramos for a foul on Neymar in the penalty area.
“The videographic evidence does not disprove the exsistence of contact between the appealant (Ramos) and his opponent (Neymar).”
The report goes on to add that there are no grounds to suspend the ban or rescind the red card and Ramos will be fined €600 euros and Real Madrid €350.
Real Madrid immediately took the case to the Spanish Sport Ministry’s Administrative Court (TAD) to try and allow Ramos to play, but the likelihood that TAD President Enrique Arnaldo will call an emergency meeting to discuss the matter and come to a ruling before kick-off are very slim.

hmm, is this team ready to face challenges or do we just shrink anytime we don't come up against teams that don't just lay down for us to walk over them?

Re: Sevilla vs Real Madrid discussion
Brazilian defender Marcelo could only offer apologies to the Real Madrid fans, following their defeat at Sevilla. The second in a row, after losing El Clásico against Barcelona.
Speaking with Canal Plus after the final whistle ended their game at Sevilla with defeat, Real Madrid defender Marcelo underlined that his team knows what’s at stake, but offered his apologies to the fans, on behalf of the team.
“We knew the end of the season was going to be tough. Every game is like a final. We have to fight and keep fighting and apologise to the fans of Real Madrid.”
Feeling that his team had more than enough opportunities to get a better result against Sevilla, Marcelo continued with his apologies.
“We’ve created chances. We couldn’t take advantage of them, but that’s football. Apologies to our fans and we’ll keep on working hard.”
A second defeat on the back of losing El Clásico against Barcelona at the weekend, Marcelo admitted that it’s a blow for their morale, but insisted that they must keep fighting for the title.
“Every game is a final now. We’ve suffered psychologically, but we can’t stop working to put Real Madrid where they should be.”
Trying to find words to account for why the team had lost against Sevilla, was practically impossible for Marcelo.
“It’s difficult to explain what we’ve done, after so many consecutive wins. We’ve lost two crucial games. Now that makes everything all the more difficult.”

I think Real Madrid is very vulnerable down the both flanks , to add to that Alonso hasn't been in his best form at least in the last two games , I never understood the hype around illarramendi , maybe there's something i don't see

There is video of Ronaldo apparently upset because he didn't take the last free kick.
Serves him right. His free kicks have been shit and it's only fair someone else take them.

lol at this midfield
alonso and illaramendi?
immobile
i saw a little vision from illaramendi at times but he needs to play more games, with proper midfield partners.
The team needs active midfielders. it seems alonso cant function in a 4-3-3. any pressure and he crumbles.
bring in kroos and pogba to partner modric.

Re: Sevilla vs Real Madrid discussion
Dude...this season is not over yet. Hold on to your transfer talk.
I have not watched the match, but I believe it was a 4-3-3 again. Apparently Alonso doesn't like Carlos 4-3-3 and is asking for help defensively. I don't care if a key player doesn't like to play a particular formation as along as coach extracts what is needed for the team. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be happening either. I am sure he is already re-thinking 4-3-3.
I think players should be asked to shut the f*k up after a big match lose as unnecessary comments on a lost match and refs is only going to take the concentration away. I think this is what has happened - lose of focus.

Re: Sevilla vs Real Madrid discussion
What a painful game to watch. Xabi losing the ball like that to cause a counter and Bale changing boots when Sevilla attacked for their second goal
jesus we looked absolutely clueless out there. No penetration no bloody movement and shots to the sevilla fans behind the goal. We don't have anyone other than Dimaria who is creative. Ronaldo wnd Bale seldomly track back causing our team to stretch and space opening up for teams to exploit. Lopez gives you no confidence at all, I remember Iker saving 1v1s vs Espanyol in the Copa that helped us go through. We are not a charity, Iker should get his spot back asap
Illaramendi should be tried instead of Alonso and Isco should rotate with Modric, Carlo gets on your nerves with his subs, Morata in the 90th minute again REALLY. Can somebody remind him who inspired our comeback vs Levante eariler in the season
The Dortmund game went from a sure win to a sure draw/loss in just a week. Nobody has any fight in our team and thats rubbing off from the coach who has no fight himself.
We can just hope Barca/Atleti drop points next weekend preferably lose because those games are our only hope of leapfrogging them because our shite h2h. we have amassed a grand total of 3 points against Villarreal, Bilbao, Sevilla, Atleti, Barca away, That's just not good enough. We are quickly becoming the Arsenal of Spain sihh

Re: Sevilla vs Real Madrid discussion
I sensed this happening when I created this thread
http://www.goallegacy.net/t35094-30-games-unbeaten-the-truth-about-madrid-s-record
I could see this happening from the beginning - the clasico and sevilla efeat
It was just a matter of time
The formation sucks big time..as in biggg timeee!!
It lacks team work creativity, it depends solely on individual creativi
The formation cannot help us manuever big teams, talk less of big match
Even if we win the league, we should know that we failed to win any big ma
Am sad cos we keep going through this heartbreak.
We beat other small teams and build a record that gives us some opti
Am sad and losing hope for this teammisim, but when the going gets tough, we realise that our records were just a farce.tch which is really badd.es.ty and now we are paying for itand other defeats. think all my analysis now makes more sense to people who might have thought it was a knee jerk reaction.

Re: Sevilla vs Real Madrid discussion
1. The team lost that fighting spirit Mourinho instilled in them. We've had matches as bad as this one, but you could see on the players' faces that they would have done everything to win. Yesterday everyone except Ronaldo, Marcelo and Benzema had a lax attitude. They seemed like they don't even care. That irritated me more than how they played. They didn't play a good match, but at least try, run, FIGHT.
2. Carlo was a big game specialist in Milan. His Milan is known for its inconsistency throughout a season, but when it came to big games, they were kicking ass. Here, at Madrid, it's viceversa. He flopped in every big match this season and killed the scrubs

Re: Sevilla vs Real Madrid discussion
What's Morata gonna do? Nothing. The problem wasn't Benz or CR7. Sevilla parked the bus after they scored and their base tactic was to sit low and crowd the middle. Until we forced them up or wide, the strikers were outmanned. The midfield and wide players are where we failed.... and what were the other options there? Carlo tried Isco for Illara to add some zip. Di Maria wasn't available.
Basically, our midfield is all about Modric and Di Maria together... if either is off the pitch, our midfield is complete crap.
I won't even get into the fullbacks who can't make a play at all. Extremely disappointed in Carvajal so far as he's technically just bad. Marcelo was bad in the first half and played better in the second.
Bale may have been found out. He needs to change his runs and approach or he's going to be stopped.
The tactic against Madrid is simple: Block the middle and sit low to neutralize Modric and BBC. Challenge Madrid to go wide and create with their midfield. Dortmund is going to do the exact same thing.
Again, we're dead if Modric, Di Maria and Benz are not all on the pitch together. They're the only guys that create plays while Bale is slumping.

Re: Sevilla vs Real Madrid discussion
Real Madrid full-back Marcelo has apologised to the club's fans following Wednesday's 2-1 defeat to Sevilla.
Two goals from Carlos Bacca cancelled out Cristiano Ronaldo's opener and condemned Madrid to back-to-back losses which have seen them slip three points behind Atletico Madrid in the Liga title race.
Marcelo admits the team have been mentally affected after the results against Sevilla and Barcelona, but is determined to approach the remaining matches like cup finals in order to keep their hopes of the title alive.
"We created chances but we were unable to make the most of them, that's football," he is quoted as saying by the club's official website. "But we would like to apologise to the Real Madrid fans, who always support us. We knew the end of the season is very difficult, with very important matches and we will keep on fighting.
"Now there are several matches that are like finals. Of course we players suffer psychologically but we cannot stop working hard and we are going to keep doing so to get Real Madrid to where it should be. It is difficult to win several matches in a row like we have. We have lost two matches and now everything is more difficult."
Madrid face Rayo Vallecano at Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday in their next match.

Nobody said Benz or Ronaldo were the problem. There was another one on the other hand right next to them who has stunk the place up olin two consecutive games. play a 4-3-1-2 I don't care but get another forward in there and push benz down to do the creativity. He was ignored all game mainly because it took us 5 mins to switch the play from one wing to another, everything was going so god damn slow
Subbing Isco in was not the solution, he too can't create, we should have put on another forward and played benz behind the two forwards, there was absolutely no penetrations when he was up top. The best pass of the game was surprise suprise Benz to Bale which the pos missed. Other than Benz and DiMaria this team lacks creative players, god forbid next season when one or two of these get sold we are going to look awful
Modric is overrated, whenever you need him to release the ball quick he takes gazillion touches before he does, so fcking overrated, he can do well against Rayo and co but when it comes to tough games he hinders us instead of making us better.
So frustrated, watch us completely ass spank Rayo and Carlo will say these two games were just a blip and then we will have our asses handed back to us vs Dortmund
We haven't won a single big game away and lost the home games against our direct rivals. No fight whatsoever in this team

Re: Sevilla vs Real Madrid discussion
Yeah i agree with that. Our midfielders take too long on the ball.... way too long. I'm really upset at Alonso. That's 2 big games and 2 massive brainfarts. Of course Pepe couldn't go without making one too.
Who would have though that a fullback pairing of Marcelo/Carvajal would be meh offensively. Marcelo got into better attacking positions in the second half... but really poor first half.
The main problem is that we can't go to a plan B in a game if we get stuck... we just stay stuck.

I think we'll be fine with Di Maria/Modric/Benz playing against Dortmund in terms of creativity... that wasn't the problem in the clasico. Our defense went down the toilet in that one. Hopefully, Varane playing will solve that a bit. But of course, it's going to be Pepe-Ramos

Re: Sevilla vs Real Madrid discussion
Carlo Ancelotti stated after the game: “I don't think the defeat affected us. Before everything was going well and now we have arrived here. Now we need to react with everyone's character and personality. The league is more complicated and all the matches will be important”.
“I don't think we deserved to lose. On the one hand we could have because we didn't prepare well for Sevilla's counter-attacks and that is how they scored both goals. We took the lead and could have scored more goals. Then they scored two goals in the same way when we needed more balance”.
THE FIRST HALF WAS GOOD, WITH A LOT OF CHANCES, BUT WE WERE NOT CLINICAL ENOUGH.
“Alonso is not at fault, he miscontrolled the ball, but we have to cover his back and we didn't. That is where both goals came from. Cristiano Ronaldo was annoyed because we were losing the match, nothing more. Now La Liga is more complicated because we are behind. It's more complicated but not impossible”.
Matches against big teams
“It's not a problem. The team has lost against smaller teams. La Liga is complicated and it has strong teams and every match is difficult. We have to think about ourselves. We lost two matches but we have to believe we can win it. We are behind but we have to believe it is possible”.

Re: Sevilla vs Real Madrid discussion
We av been going through this problems for the past 5 yrs.
One moment, we think we have found it but in just one to two games, we realise how awful we are.
Truth is that we have always been dis awful, but the lucky wins hid all that.
We just needed a loss to justify what we always noticed.
We have super creative players in our team but the formation isn't bringing that out.
I am tired of the merry-go-round of this madrid team for the past 5yrs, its sickening.

Re: Sevilla vs Real Madrid discussion
Gareth Bale was predictably made to carry the can for Real Madrid’s defeat last night with the image of him doing up his laces as Sevilla scored the winner plastered over every single sports page.
Diario AS detailed the minute-by-minute of his decision to change his boots midway through the second half as Sevilla attacked down his right flank and scored the goal that could end up losing Real Madrid the title.
On 70 minutes 34 seconds Bale took advantage of a Sevilla substitution to change footwear but he was still on the sidelines on 71 minutes 53 seconds when Carlos Bacca scored. The ill-timed pit-stop did not finish until 72 minutes 30 seconds when Bales came back on with the game out of Real Madrid’s control.
The rollicking Bale received from Cristiano Ronaldo was also covered in detail as the Madrid press carried out the inquest on the first time in five years that they had lost two consecutive matches in the league.
Xabi Alsono tried to play down the incident saying: 'All the players were upset with themselves for the defeat.' But Ronaldo’s anger is clearly directed at Bale as he blasts a late free-kick off target with Ronaldo feeling he should have taken the kick.
'He comes from the cradle of rugby - perhaps that is why he puts so many over the bar,” sniped Diario AS’ resident critic Tomas Roncero.
It is customary for Bale and Ronaldo to share free-kick taking duties and on the night both had been woefully off target. Ronaldo had scored from a first half set-piece but only because the ball hit Sevilla’s Carlos Bacca on the arm to divert it past Beto in the Sevilla goal.
Diaro AS rounded off its savage criticism of Bale saying: 'He did not respond to the importance of the game. He made the wrong decisions even upsetting Ronaldo.'
Marca went slightly easier on Bale saying he had not been the only player out of position when Sevilla scored. But elsewhere he was slated and given a five out of 10 rating alongside the comment: 'It seems he plays better when he has injury problems.'
Madrid’s embarrassment was made complete by the fact that their misfiring 250m euros forward line, had been outdone by Carlos Bacca, a former bus conductor who cost 8m in the summer.
