Not a fair comparison at all since Cena has been around since 2002 and Bryan joined WWE in 2010.

I don't get why they don't go for really epic matches at WM. Like steel cages, ladder matches etc. Just go all out with different types of matches. Instead they do generic basic matches.

At WM they should unify the IC/US titles and have a 6 man tornado elimination pinfall battle royal. Rollins vs Reigns vs Bray Wyatt vs Big E vs Cesaro vs Swagger/Ambrose.

Much better than basic triple threat.

Agree about match types

Why there isn't a hell in a cell, no dq, last man standing etc is beyond me

Instead they re-name all the crappy PPVS as a specific match type, and have 1 or 2 of those matches per year

Hell in a cells are amazing, they should not be limited to like 2 per year.

WM is the perfect occasion to bring back some classic match types.

For what it's worth, it's said within WWE that current plans have John Cena and Daniel Bryan being pushed as the #1 and #2 guys in the company after WrestleMania XXX, now that CM Punk is gone. No word yet if this means Bryan is winning the WWE World Heavyweight Title.

We noted before that there was a Bad News Barrett segment considered for this past Monday's RAW from Chicago where Barrett would have informed fans that hometown star CM Punk wasn't there.

WWE decided not to go with this angle because Vince McMahon still does not want to bury Punk publicly. Vince still hopes that Punk will get his head on straight and come back to WWE. Punk moves a lot of merchandise and WWE wants to have some kind of relationship with him because they've invested a lot of time and money into Punk and his licensing.

It's said that Punk has some leverage now because of his relationship with Vince McMahon but as Triple H gains more power, things could change for Punk as far as how easy it is for him to come back when he wants.

As noted earlier, WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin appeared on the first two episodes of Jim Ross' new podcast, The Ross Report.

The latest episode of the Ross Report dropped last night and features Showtime Championship Boxing commentator and former Strikeforce play-by-play announcer Mauro Ranallo.
In his last episode with Austin, Jim Ross asked "Stone Cold" if there was any money in turning John Cena heel.

"No, there's no money in turning John Cena heel," Austin replied.

Austin said that Cena is the face of the company, and turning him heel would be a bad idea. He noted that Cena is the most liked active U.S. athlete on Facebook, he's All American, does all the charity work, he's good and that kids love him. He said that while a heel turn may sound like a good idea because of the crowd reactions, he feels like the audience is just messing with him. He said that Cena is walking on the edge of a razor blade, and he's never seen another run like Cena's.

He said that you cannot have the face of the company doing all that he can to be hated, adding that it does not work and there's no money in it. Austin added that he respects Cena as much as he has respected anyone in the business. Jim Ross stated that you also cannot turn your back on the merchandise that he moves, and asked how you can turn on children.

Austin talked about his own heel turn at WrestleMania 17 and how it was his idea, and admitted that it was a mistake. While he did get to take his character in different directions and try new things, he took a big hit in merchandise while the company suffered in ticket sales and pay-per-view buy rates. He once again iterated that it was not a successful endeavor, and that "white meat young, clean, handsome babyface John Cena must remain that guy."

It will never happen. At most he would turn into a Y2J or HBK when he is 45ish and putting scrubs over.

It could only happen if somebody became the clear top guy with merchandise, which is very unlikely to happen.

WWE won't turn their biggest cash cow against the fans.

Cena had a minor gimmick change back in 2012.

Back then (2005-2011), he was the underdog who overcame all sorts of challenges. Giving him a superman like image.

Nowadays, if you're a rising star you have to go through Cena first, and get his approval.

When WCW turned Hogan heel everybody was saying the same thing. Turns out it was the best heel turn in history in terms of impact and money. Turning Cena heel for the sake of change will be stupid, but if the WWE plans a huge angle and book it right he would generate even more money. Anyway it wont happen until Roman Reigns is ready to carry the company and become and established super star, and that wont happen in a year or two.

Axel was barely relevant with Heyman at his side, and that's saying something because Heyman is the KING as we all know

Without Heyman he's one of the most generic mid-card jobbers you could imagine.
