Well, there are so many we were "close to" and "interested in", but never bought, Jorginho being the most recent.

Dani Alves and David Silva in 2008 instead we got Keane and Dossena Sad

Juan Mata in 2011 instead we got Downing Sad

Jovetic in 2009

Michael Laudrup in 1985

Mkhitaryan this past summer and Konoplyanka in the winter.

when were liverpool close to getting ramsey? you might have been linked with him but you werent close, it was between man utd and arsenal, dont think liverpool were that interested.

Lol reading the posts, there are so many hopefuls and then failed, and got players much worst in.... like Liverpool.... but I guess thats common for many clubs unable to compete with the absolute top few for the top players.

I think Ronaldo goes without saying, but it's also surprising to see that Liverpool chose Henderson over Gotze. Henderson is my favourite player, but hard to believe at the time that anyone would have chosen him over Gotze.

Also heard that Liverpool was linked with El Shaarawy which would have been a pretty awesome signing.

We picked Downing over Mata, Henderson over Gotze, and settled on Carroll after missing out on Mario Gomez (and iirc Falcao too). lol
