Re: Julian Draxler
He's been terrible because he asked to leave, was promised he wouldn't be blocked upon signing his last extension... and Wolfsburg blocked him anyhow. The only leverage a player has in such a circumstance is to mail it in and force the club to sell him by being average.
If a club lies and acts unethically towards a player, a player has no responsibility to be professional.
PSG has done the same to a couple of players (Matuidi is one of them)... and they're not playing well for them either.

And Trapp hasn't been terrible... but he hasn't been great either. He's basically Sirigu. If pretty good was going to be the measure, PSG decided to give Areola a chance to develop since he's the future for them.

This probably means Pjanic will be our starting CAM in the champions league if we play that formation. I don't like him there as I think he lacks too much in the dribbling and pace department and his too skinny.
He's been terrible, Juve probably dropped out because you can do so much better.
Agreed. He doesn't have a champion mentality and I'd say he's about PSG level.

Re: Julian Draxler
When did Wolfsburg give Draxler an extension and promised to let him leave and stuff? They only signed him last year. He wasn't very right good from the beginning for them.

Draxler wanted to leave this past summer Rincon. It was very very clear. They got huge offers too.

Re: Julian Draxler
I was just saying that was never extended or anything, he just got signed. I don't imagine that promises to leave were made immediately upon signing such an expensive player. Wolfsburg don't come across as unethical here, Draxler does. He joined, he didn't do particularly well in his first season, then he publicly asked to leave.

Re: Julian Draxler
Draxler is a little bitch who left his childhood club for $$$$, costing a fee of almost 40m, and then played a horrible season before making a stink about wanting out next summer.
So unethical from Wolfsburg tho.

I get the GL disdain for professional people asking to get paid... it's unfathomable that they want to maximize their earning potential really.

Re: Julian Draxler
What does that have to do with Wolfsburg being unethical, they broke their transfer record iirc to bring Draxler who pushed for the move. Then he under performed. Then he threw a fit. Wanting to keep their player doesn't make Wolfsburg unethical, Draxler behaving like a 5 year old does. Professionals should act as such.

he's better than anyone you have bar Mane tbf. Lallana deserves a honorary mention.

Re: Julian Draxler
Oh yeah Wolfsburg unethical...
A player signs a multi year deal to transfer clubs.. the club should have all the leverage to say you signed a contract that is this long.. I am going to play you that many years and if you don't want to.. there's the bench.

I have to agree with this tbh, Draxler moved and signed a long term contract of his own will.
He cost a lot of money and is getting paid a lot of money to be a key player.
As in any job you're paid to do well, professionalism is an absolute minimum requirement.
If he wants to leave, fine, but acting like he's had some kind of injustice is laughable.
They have every right to push for what they paid for.
And if he is purposely putting in average performances (which I highly doubt) then he needs to fix up and act like a proper footballer.

42.5 + 5.5M in bonuses. Could end up 48M. A fair price in today's market considering even Sane went for that kind of a price - He is a decent player, would have started in Arsenal over scrubs like Oxdale or Iwobi!

For 42mil I'd expect someone better than "decent". No, thank you.

Re: Julian Draxler
Wolfsburg did blindside Draxler. He came in, they were 2nd, he replaced De Bruyne. Soon after they sold Perisic & then Schurrle. The promise was not realized - Max Kruse, Dost, Arnold, Knoche & the young crop of so-called big players all bombed & were sold. Then Naldo left this summer & he was a top top CB. Wolfsburg continued to not buy or buy underwhelming replacements. Perisic & Naldo were huge losses.
They are so low in the league - Naturally Draxler who felt he had a chance to win the BL now feels short-shafted & wants to leave. He wanted to leave in the summer but was forced not to.
And Arsenal bought Xhaka & Mustafi for 40-45M too, more defensive players than Draxler who are also nothing more than decent.
But anyways happy for Draxler, maybe he will shine now. This is a crazy market where Pogba goes for 110M & Higuain for 90M.

Re: Julian Draxler
2016: 2-0 lead with Wolfsburg
2017: 4-0 lead with PSG
Is he the curse? Why PSG bought a mental midget like him, I don't understand anyways. And why he started over first leg hero Di Maria makes zero sense also.
