Re: Arsenal U23s & U18s Thread
Malen >>> Mavididi from what I've seen. Also think Yassin Fortune has more to him.
It's the age old issue, though. All this forward talent, nothing in defence or in goal.
At least the U21s could have something to celebrate this year. Their win last night at Derby puts them in a good position to be promoted back the first division.
Alarmingly the U18 side continues to be rubbish. 4 games, 1 win, 1 draw, 2 losses, only 2 goals scored and 7 conceded.

Wilshere playing against West Brom tonight - set for another 90 minutes. No Rosicky, though. It'd be nice if we could see him play one last time this season, hopefully in relaxing circumstances on the final day of the season.
Anyway, Arsenal playing with no striker tonight. Gnabry starts up front/false 9, with Wilshere, Jeff and Crowley behind him.

I thought Diaby was a natural phenomenon. Something like his great, great, great grandfather sneezed on the tomb of some Pharaoh and cursed his entire family line but, unless Wilshere is related to him, it seems we have two peas in a pod. He has become Diaby.

Arsenal lose 2-1 to miss out on the title. Now have to play playoffs to get promoted.
Good to know that bottling the big occasion runs straight down to youth level as well.

The U21s have been promoted back to the first division after beating Villa 3-1. Willock scored one and set-up Mavididi twice in a brilliant performance.
Chambers, Coquelin, Cazorla and Campbell all played as well.

Re: Arsenal U23s & U18s Thread
Since we have a Cat A academy (for now), our U21s will be playing in the EFL Trophy (formerly Johnstone's Paint Trophy) this year as part of the format change.
Under the new rules, at least 6 players have to U21. This means that first team players could play in this too.
The new format will have a group stage, so that's three guaranteed games for our youth against a League One side and a League Two side - a step-up in competition compared to the other reserve teams. One of the games will be played at the Emirates as well.

After Thierry Henry chose to work for Sky rather than continue his coaching role, Tony Adams has now decided he’s not up for the job and will instead take on a ‘lucrative’ role at Chinese club ‘Chongqing Lifan’. - arseblog

Re: Arsenal U23s & U18s Thread
Arsenal U19s have arrived in South Africa as they bid to retain the Durban International Cup.
The young Gunners won the competition in impressive style last year and will take on KZN Academy, Sporting Lisbon and Golden Arrows in the group stages. The competition gets underway tomorrow.
Arsenal have named a strong squad for the tournament, with Donyell Malen, Stephy Mavididi, Ben Sheaf, Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith-Rowe amongst those included.
Also involved is midfielder Marcelo Allende, who is set to train with the club until September. A Chilean youth international who has captained his country at U17 level, it remains to be seen whether Allende will be offered a professional deal by the Gunners.
Arsenal squad: Hugo Keto, Ben Sheaf, Stephy Mavididi, Kristopher Da Graca, Savvas Mourgos, Marcus McGuane, Josh DaSilva, Donyell Malen, Nathan Tella, Joe Willock, Eddie Nketiah, Jordi Osei-Tutu, Kostas Pileas, Tolaji Bola, Reiss Nelson, Emile Smith-Rowe, Toby Omole, Marcelo Allende.
