Re: RIP Southampton
I'll be surprised if he spent anywhere near half of it lol.
Anyway after this it got me to thinking about the uproar if we did this after finishing 5th lol.
What they doing is basically the equivalent of us selling Ba, Cisse, Ben Arfa, Tiote, Krul, Cabaye and Coloccini in one summer lmao.
They should be disgusted with themselves.

Re: RIP Southampton
Already got Tadic and Pelle, who have potential to be better than Lallana and Lambert imo.

Dutch league scrubs? Oh I'm so impressed lol.
They are going down and most of the money will be trousered. If they were interested in competing they wouldn't have sold these players to begin with.

Pelle. Serie B failure gets the 3rd best goal/game ratio in the *bleep* World in the Dutch league

Because they aren't English?
Lambert and Lallana are symbol of Southampton's rise from league 1, to top half of PL in 4 years. They are both Saints' legends...well Lambert is at least.

Re: RIP Southampton
They can build a side and remain top half with the money....but it's just disheartening when all your best players leave in one summer.
The fans/club...the affiliation suffers. They need to have a good start...it's an absolute must for them.

They're selling their players for some really good money, though. From a theoretical point of view, that's the right thing to do for them: Sell your stars for high prices, invest in up-and-coming players who you trust will keep you comfortably in the league, sell them for big money again in a few years, repeat.
If you outright refuse to sell these players, you end up with some really unhappy players and not enough money to buy quality replacements when the current stars decline.
But obviously that's all very Football Manager stuff, you need the club be run financially just right - so that you reinvest the money - and know which players to buy.
Southampton are losing so many of their players now in one go, though, that even with good-on-paper replacements they might struggle big time this season. Definitely a space to watch.

Tadic is not a scrub. Pelle is another story. They have Koeman as coach though, so they might base their team around Pelle. He's not that good, but he could do better than Lambert depending how Koeman sets up.

Tadic is a very good player and Pelle is better than Lambert as well.
If they invest the money properly in say Eredivisie players they will have a better squad than what they had but since they are likely to invest only a part of the transfer income, I don't see them doing well.
Koeman isn't a genius and these new players will take time to gel

Pelle ain't a scrub, he'll out score Lambert this season. Now Tadic, I'm not so sure after Djuricic scrubbing it up at Benfica.

But that was after they had gotten relegated from the PL, which makes it far more understandable.

Re: RIP Southampton
They do have ambition but it's often misplaced, they could be a lot further on as a football club with smarter recruitment and decision making as a club.
We are the opposite, we make smart decisions and recruit well but have zero ambition.
