Etienne Capoue's proposed move to Napoli is at risk because of Tottenham's "absurd" asking price, according to the player's agent.

“The problem is not the player or Napoli –Tottenham just want a lot of money," Fischer told Radio Crc.

“What they’re asking for is absurd. But we are only on January 21 and there is still hope."

Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino says he has no intention of making any signings in the January transfer window.

Reports have suggested the club could make several additions to their squad in light of recent injuries to Victor Valdes and Lionel Messi, though the pair have now returned to full fitness.

But Martino is happy with the squad at his disposal and felt they displayed their quality prior to the winter break, as he prepares his side to face Levante in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals on Wednesday.

He told reporters: "We have a very strong team and we are confident that we will perform well when we have to change players around.

Norwich City have confirmed they have rejected a transfer request from midfielder Wes Hoolahan, who is a reported target for Aston Villa.

Hoolahan has been strongly linked with Villa, who are managed by former Norwich boss Paul Lambert.

The Republic of Ireland international has made just five Premier League starts for Norwich this season, but the Carrow Road club appear determined not to sanction a sale.

A statement on Norwich's official website read: "City can confirm Irish international midfielder Wes Hoolahan has today submitted a transfer request which has been rejected.

"The board of Norwich City has stated clearly no senior players will be sold against the club's wishes and Hoolahan, 31, is contracted to the club until June 2015.

"The club will make no further comment at this time."

Seydou Doumbia's agent Jean Bernard Beytrison has revealed that Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing the CSKA Moscow striker as they prepare for life after Robert Lewandowski.

The Poland international will leave BVB for Bayern Munich at the end of the season on a Bosman transfer and Dortmund are keeping tabs on a number of players to take Lewandowski's place.

They have previously been linked with high-profile names such as Diego Costa and Jackson Martinez, and the 26-year-old Doumbia now appears to be a candidate, too.

"Seydou has heard about Dortmund's interest and is happy about it," the striker's representative told Sport Bild.

"If he were to leave CSKA Moscow, it would only be for one of the biggest clubs in the world. Borussia Dortmund are definitely among the top teams.

"We are happy to open talks if they make an approach."

Doumbia has a contract with CSKA until June 2015.

Schalke CEO Clemens Tonnies has urged Julian Draxler to snub Arsenal in favour of a prolonged stay at the Bundesliga outfit.

The Premier League giants are keen to lure the 20-year-old away from his current club either this winter or at the end of the season, but Schalke remain hopeful that Draxler will commit his future to the Gelsenkirchen side.

"I am of the opinion that Julian should play for Schalke next season. That's my personal advise to him," Tonnies told Sport Bild.

"He should not let the interest from abroad play with his head. It's best for his development when he can play without much pressure and with a clear mind.

"Looking back, at the start of the season he was under a lot of pressure then and the exact same thing will happen again if he moves.

"There are a number of big clubs after him, but we have no intention of selling him this winter. Even if we do not qualify for next year's Champions League, that doesn't mean we will have to sell Julian."

Draxler has a contract with Schalke until June 2018, but his current deal contains a €45.5 million release clause.

Who wants a laugh?

Manchester United make enquiry into signing Juventus star Arturo Vidal

Manchester United have made an enquiry into Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal as David Moyes continues his hunt for a new central midfielder. Moyes has been given the green light to add to his squad this month, with the club facing a real battle to qualify for the Champions League next season.
And while a deal to sign Juan Mata from Chelsea is ongoing, United are not stopping there, with the club making a move for Vidal. Reports in Italy claim they have asked Juve to name their price for the midfield dynamo, who is allegedly unsettled in Turin.

It’s not clear whether he would be interested in a transfer, or whether Juve would sell, but United are keen to do business. Vidal is rated at around £15million, and has been a long-term target for United scouts, who have tracked his progress for years. United would be prepared to wait until the summer to sign Vidal if they could not agree terms during this transfer window.
