2013/14 Modric Vs Xavi

Based on this season which is playing at a higher level?

Modric by his standard is having a great season, Xavi by his standard according to many is having an average season (FYI when hes been fit I still think hes been outstanding)

Modric definitely. Better tackling, intercepting, dribbling, agility, passing and more energetic.

Irrespective of that it's always funny when people come up with those random criteria. I'm sure there are hundreds of players out there with better "tackling, interception and energy" than even prime Xavi - another Madrid midfielder who ticks those boxes is Khedira. Laughing

I'm afraid you won't be able to describe the complexity of a midfielder's ability with Fifa-esque criteria like "pace 85, strength 90, agility 78". Laughing

Just go back to when they played directly against each other for the majority of the game in October and tell me who's better.

Modric's performances against Granada's and Rayo's are good and all but...

If we're going to judge them on this route, Banega must be the best mid in the world. I'm not saying that Modric is a better player than Xavi, but this season he has been better.

Modric was good that game and Barca have more of the ball, so Xavi's going to look better. Overall so far this season, Modric has been the better player.

Modric and Xavi are players of a similar mould, so it's ok to say who's the better tackler. However obviously Xavi/Khedira can't be compared, since they are different types of players.

If you actually watched Banaga, you would know what your implying is rubbish. This myth that he is terrible or average against everyone but Barca/Madrid needs to die.

I already said my peice. Every year is the same, Alonso was better, now Modric is better, bla bla.

Also, the questioned being asked is who has performed better this season, NOT who is the better overall player.

Yeah, clearly Modric, on a game to game basis has just been better, there is no arguing that. That doesnt mean that he is a better player, or that if you have a CL final to play, you take modric over xavi for example
