The first disc is great throughout, if the 2nd is 4/5 it's probably AOTY

Just heard this leak, it has to be from the 2nd disc:

100 ft Drake is quite good too.

Man Game's voice has changed a lot over the years. He sounds so different if you listen to Documentary or his time at G-Unit.

Of course. Most of you who are critics of him just 90% generalises him without actually listening to his stuff.

Anyway, I have a lot of catching up to do.
Jay Rock's album
WATTBA
Docu 2
Hoping I can/will download them all this coming week

My thoughts on Compton (don't think I've said anything yet about it)
It's okay, but nothing special, love a few songs though mainly just because of the DOPE beats:

Yeah, I've had a lot of catching up too. I finally got around to listening to a few albums I had downloaded.

I really like Run the Jewels 2, Compton, and ALLA.

The song isn't good beacuse of Drake lmao. Game went in on the song & the beat is 10/10.

Drake was good aswell but he's not the highlight of the song or even close.

The fact that RG said: "is quite good too" suggests that he thought it wouldn't be a good song because Drake is on it, or that he wouldn't have liked it because he thinks Drake isn't good for his personal taste.

I know I'm super late on this so I don't know how much this has been talked about or not (very new to hip hop yet). Have you guys given this a listen yet and your opinion on where it stands as far as hip hop this year? This is exactly my type of hip hop and so far this is my favorite (really enjoyed TPAB though)

Yeah well I did shake my ass for a few hours to the after show djs lol, for the show itself it was too crowded to pretty much do anything but bounce a bit on the spot and raise your hands as commanded now and then Laughing.
We were a bit late as we didn't expect the show to start on time (last rap show I went to we went through 4-5 hours of warm up djs with the main act only emerging after everyone was thoroughly fed up with chanting his name lol)
So we were having a beer in the club's yard still when we heard Survival of the Fittest starting, went in and had to immediately plow through bodies to get anywhere near the stage.
Some pumped-up East German rap muscle hools started shoving, claiming it was 'survival of the fittest' on the floor which I think is a bit too much identification with the lyrics.

The show was in a club in Leipzig where friend of mine and me went on a little 2 day trip to meet up with an old buddy.

Emphasis on old lol.
Can't help feeling too old for hip hop shows. That's what happens when you're at a place remembering having gone there as a teenie in the mid-to-end nineties, smoking weed in the parking lot with pre fame German rap acts who now annoy the shit out of everyone and do voice-over work for children films Laughing

So the show was a bit meh, and I guess nostalgia was a big part why we went anyway. I used to listen to this shit about 20 years ago
And Prodigy and Havoc actually are too old too, it's often just as sad as it is nice to see old heroes. They did ok overall, it was fun, but a bit hasty. Bad sound of course, and the show ended with them standing on the stage while a couple of new tracks were playing full playback, shouting a word here and there Laughing

For some reason, the shows I've been to, of the hip hop acts I loved to listen to most, have often been most dissapointing.
Like ODB (was looking forward to it like crazy but he didn't show, of course Laughing), the whole Wu Tang (worst concert ever, 10-15 hysteric guys shouting over each other with no audible tracks for 35 minutes, no ODB either), Jeru (saw him somewhen in 2007-8 or so and the whole show screamed bad vibes, bitterness and decay). Guru in 2004 was annoying as hell with his white clothes and his insistence on 'keeping it real'. Saw Kool Keith twice and both times it was clear they only let him out of the looney bin to make a bit money.

The best shows I've seen were those of easy-going acts I don't really listen to so much since I prefer the darker stuff (hands down best hip hop show I ever attended was Jurassic 5).

It's always risky revisiting your old favorites. Sometimes you'll fall in love again, while other times it'll destroy your nostalgia. And sometimes you're just like "meh, whatever". At least you got to see your old friend.

It seems like you have the shittiest luck with rap shows. Laughing Personally, I'm ridiculously introverted so music concerts aren't for me. I went to carnaval in Rio once because my friends wanted to go and I hadn't seen them in a while and it was one of the worse experiences of my life. Loud, shitty music and thousands of people standing (dancing maybe?) shoulder to shoulder. It was the stuff of nightmares.

Jurassic 5 are great though but what do you mean by darker stuff?
