Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
Living in a small town, I've honestly never had a fantastic New Years eve. I always spend days searching for the biggest party possible, but it just feels like great parties don't happen around here because people are scared of being the one who holds the New Years eve bash at their house, or the people who do throw them force everyone to stay outside and everybody has to leave at the end of the night.CBarca wrote:Plans for New Year by the way?
As usual I've got noooooonnnnnnnnnnneeeeee.
My New Years have historically almost always been spent relatively alone. There are a lot of New Year parties, but I'm in high school so nobody has high school new year parties, and hell I wouldn't go to them anyway.
I feel as though the hype around New Year's being the biggest party of the year stresses me out more than anything and makes me feel as though I'm missing a massive party if I'm not at one each year, when in reality there are no massive parties around here outside of the club scene in Windsor, which is no better on New Year's than any other day, just busier.
Something about being young and wanting to live it up but being unable to is the cause of so much disappointment in my life

I'm glad I haven't ever had this urge. Or at least not yet. Maybe it's because I'm in high school that I lack it and that once I move out and all, that's something that will happen to me. I wouldn't be surprised, but then again...I'm hardly the type.

A party is as enjoyable as you let it be, if you let a party be the biggest and the best then it will

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
@CB: I pretty much felt the same way that I do now in high school too. It probably won't change as you grow older because I think it has to do with our personalities. I am the guy in my group who is usually tasked with figuring out our partying plans, so perhaps my desire not to let people down is what makes me concerned when I can't come up with something good.
Anyway, I'm going to just go to a friend's house this year who sometimes has awesome parties and sometimes has shitty parties so I don't really know what to expect this time around.
To an extent this is true, but it depends on how you perceive it from the start. If you walk in and it immediately seems like it will fail to live up to expectations, it's hard to treat it like it's what you expected. On a normal weekend, I won't have any unreasonably high expectations so I can better appreciate what happens, but on New Year's, I just treat it like it's something that's supposed to be greater than it is so I sort of ruin it in my own head.fatman123 wrote:A party is as enjoyable as you let it be, if you let a party be the biggest and the best then it will

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
Finished the LOTR Trilogy books and i watched the first two movies for the first time. Amazing series no doubt, easily the greatest fantasy trilogy ever. Movies are great, especially the soundtrack.
Just a pure example of how great the songs are in this movie.

My LotR fanboyism is so great that I almost teared up at the beginning of each Hobbit movie just because of the nostalgia they related to

Re: The Official Talk About Whatever Thread
After LoTR, read 'The Wheel of Time'.
This isn't a recommendation, it's a demand.
