Have to give City credit though. Let's hope they don't take the confidence from this game to belt every team away from home in England too. :X
Yea. Chokers who won the treble last year and destroyed Juve and Barca with 11-0 aggregate

They didn't turn up because they were already qualified.
If this was a meaningful game, and was actually relevant, then yeah sure, they "choked". But there's no chance City would of beat them as Bayern would of turned up if it was an important game.

I think the officiating marred the Bayern-City game anyways.
Showed Europe that it takes about a billion euros and three separate attempts to make the knockout stages of the Champions League?animal.crackers wrote:Today Manchester City showed Europe what we're about.

Once we were 2:0 up the game was won, plus these "chokes" have led to reaching three of the last four CL finals.
BATE - a poor performance
Basel - won the Allianz leg 7:0
Chelsea- Very unlucky, dominated the match, just wasn't our day
Arsenal - Already advanced at the emirates
Not really choking tbh.

Re: Champions League: Match-day 6
What a dissapointing match. The match proved how Robben is still Bayern's only game changer who bayern needs when the going gets tough. I doubt Bayern would have won the CL last time without him anyway.
Besides Martinez is need at DM because Thiago is great offensively but poor defensively.
Also another World Class CB is required to push Boateng and Dante

Re: Champions League: Match-day 6
When did I say they "choked"? I said their choking mentality shows up every now and then. You can't claim to be the undisputed best team in the world and then gone on to lose 3-2 after getting 2-0 up with your best XI at home.
Yea.. finally won CL after a million attempts.Natalie Portman wrote:Yea. Chokers who won the treble last year and destroyed Juve and Barca with 11-0 aggregate

Think you've confused Bayer Leverkusen to Bayern to be honest.
They have no choking mentality.

The man to push Dante and Boateng is Badstuber but he is out long term with knee injuries right now, I don't think he will ever be the same. Outside of that we have Kirchoff but not a lot of him has been seen at Bayern, he could use some more matches.

Re: Champions League: Match-day 6
Bayern go 2-0 up only for the other team to come back and beat them. Typical Germans
Hope barca get City. Barca going out in the last 16 but watch them get leverkusen and we get city

Re: Champions League: Match-day 6
It's annoying the excuses people make whenever Bayern loses, 'complacent this, complacent that'.
If it was complacency last night, then how come they didn't manage to get the winner, which City did, when the game was level at 2-2? City prolly could have got another and won the group if Pell;egrini wasn't so dumb and knew another goal would clinch the group. (lol still can't believe he said that)

Re: Champions League: Match-day 6
Well sorry for being annoying, but Bayern visibly ran less than they usually do, and didn't engage into proper 1on1s after the 30 minute mark, they were obviously just trying not to get any player injured, and thought they'd win anyway. After City turned the match around, it was pretty much too late and they lacked the motivation to throw themselves into a needless battler in a war they'd already won.
It's not like City played great, they got that one lucky shot from Milner and the bullshit penalty, and the Milner goal even directly followed a foul the ref didn't see, so... Meh. It was mostly just frustrating to watch. Especially the stupid Bayern horizontal passing, looked like Titos Barca there for a few minutes...

They'll breeze through the next round without a doubt.

City scored their 3rd goal in the 61st minute, Bayern had more than enough time to atleast get a draw.

Re: Champions League: Match-day 6
Uefa has confirmed that the Champions League encounter between Galatasaray and Juventus at the Turk Telekom Arena will resume on Wednesday at 14:00 CET.
There were doubts as to whether the crucial Group B encounter would go ahead due to the adverse weather conditions in Istanbul that prompted the postponment of Tuesday's game, but it's now been made clear that the pitch is in good enough condition for the game to go ahead.
The match had been abandoned due to heavy snowfall in the Turkish capital, with referee Pedro Proenca ordering the players off the field in the 31st minute.
Ground staff entered the Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi pitch to clear the lines but play was ultimately unable to resume, as both captains and the match officials agreed that the pitch had become dangerous to continue.
The game will therefore resume on Wednesday from the 32nd minute, with the score 0-0.
Juventus need a point to join group winners Real Madrid in the knockout phase, while a Galatasaray victory would see the hosts claim second place at the expense of the Italian champions.
