John Terry is still the best CB in the nation
Harp on about his pace all you want but he's shown he can still play at a very high level this season. Just praying he can stay fit this season.
Haters lost.
Top 5 CB's in the PL
1. Kompany
2. Terry
3. Koscielny
4. Luiz
5. Lovren

Certainly still the best English CB, at least.

Kompany has hardly played
Mertesacker has been no 1 so far tbh and yes Terry is still the best CB England has but its not hard considering we have scrubs and scrubs alone.
Anyway Luiz?

Remarkable isn't it.The Awesome wrote:Certainly still the best English CB, at least.
It's a shame his antics and private life have tarnished his reputation amongst opposition/casual fans.
He's simply the best English CB we've produced since Bobby Moore while in his prime he was up there with the likes of Nesta and co.
Not even Mourinho expected him to be playing at the level he's been this season.

Not going to lie that Luiz inclusion is biased but if he didn't make those silly mistakes he would certainly be up there. No idea how a player with that much talent could be making so many schoolboy errors.
The Spain performance, CL final and Bayern one showed how good he is when he's fully focused. Expected him to iron those flaws out especially with Jose back then the Cardiff shit happens.

David Luiz is legit. Being mistake prone isn't enough to discredit a CB who can certainly make up for his own blunders.

Might as well say Titus Bramble was legit then.... he also had all the ability necessary but made clown like brainfart mistakes.
If you can't make simple decisions i don't care how talented you are your a scrub.

Nah, Titus was really overrated, IMO. Nothing like DL, not even close.

Overrated? no one rated him ffs lol.
Point is he had all the technical and physical tools in the world but had a 5 year old inside his brain.
Same as Luiz and until that changes just like Bramble he's a scrub.

If DL is really the "scrub" he's suppose to be then I guess Scolari, Benitez, & Mou all must be a couple of complete loonies for fielding a Master of Disaster.

Mole after the Confederations cup final- David Luiz is a world class CB and one of the best CB in the world IMO.
Fast forward to October, Mole- David Luiz is a scrub.

Lolvren was probably the worst CB in Ligue 1 last year. Won't be surprised if he starts playing bad, think he is just in a good run of form for the time being.

Not that he isn't capable of being that good, but if a player doesn't play, I don't think he can have a place on the list.

Terry isn't the best anymore. Also, Agger is better than Luiz.

Re: John Terry is still the best CB in the nation
No way Terry is in top-5, his pace isn't the only problem, he makes mistakes as well in marking, for example.
As for Luiz, he should play DM/CM, like Rafa showed, but I suppose Mourinho is too proud to do that and indicate that Rafa was onto something there.

He was a great great defender inside the box, everything in the box he is one of the best.
Outside it, it borders on comical at times, even in his prime.
