He's our replacement for Salah to play on the wings.
He leaves a massive hole when played centrally.
Bleacherreport has us linked to Clasie, if only it was a better source.

Re: Winter Window || Jan 2014
Rodgers hasn't given up on Salah. Just stop, please. We're wasting our time when he shouldn't even be a priority signing. It's clear he'll get as much game time at Chelsea, and they can offer him a sh*t load more wages too. The fact that they'll be playing CL next season also makes Chelsea a more attractive option to him. We can't compete with them. Target a DM please.
lol, just heard he came back from an injury that's kept him out for 18 months. Should stay away. I'm all for signing "risks" but we need proven/mature players in set positions (DM/CAM) right now. We need top 4.

We need a CM. Too bad we didn't get one in the summer, it's just more difficult now.
We've got aging Gerrard, out-of-form & injured Lucas, overplayed Henderson and apparently injury-prone and punching-above-his-weight Allen. Sad, really.
Ps. N'Zonzi handed in a transfer request already in the summer and Mulumbu has only 1.5 years left in his contract and has said previously to be looking for a more "classy" club

yeah FA cup is over, back to the transfer window now
sometimes I think better not sign anyone if you are going to sign someone for potential worth 7m

Rodgers will make decision within next 24 hours on midfielder who is currently on loan at Rayo Vallecano but wants a move in the winter window
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is ready to swoop for Spanish super starlet Saul Niguez, writes Alan Nixon in the Sunday People.

Rodgers has had a hush-hush meeting with the Atletico Madrid midfielder’s dad on Merseyside about a deadline swoop – to make up for missing out on Mohamed Salah.
And the Reds' chief will make a final decision on the Under-21 international on Sunday, when he sends a delegation to see him in La Liga action.
Midfield dynamo Saul is due to play for Rayo Vallecano – where he is on loan – AGAINST Atletico, and is desperate to get his future sorted fast.
Rodgers knows Saul has a fixed price of £20million in his contract with Atletico. But an offer of around £12m may work.
Liverpool’s failure to land Salah – when Chelsea came in late on the back of sorting Juan Mata's move to Manchester United – has left them a man light in midfield.
And worries about Lucas Leiva’s fitness after his latest injury means Rodgers is short of a player of Saul’s all-round ability.
Liverpool also know that Arsenal have met Luis Antonio Niguez, Saul’s father, while Chelsea and Manchester United are on the prowl.
Liverpool can probably offer the best chance of immediate first-team football as Rodgers looks for an extra capture to keep their top-four push going.
Saul is keen to play in Sunday’s match against his parent club to show he has the bottle for the big occasion.
Rodgers knows that landing him would also give Liverpool a major asset for the future.
The final price will dictate the deal and where he goes, but Saul and his dad are dead set on a move before this window slams shut on Friday.

Re: Winter Window || Jan 2014
Going to be really hard to turn this window around were a majority of fans can conclude it was a good window. We have 5 days and i doubt we will bring more than 1 or 2 players in, for some reason i'm slowly losing confidence about our T4 hopes, regardless of this 'home advantage' that most pool fans think will lead us to the T4.
Lets see, how it pans out i guess, just wish we didn't cop this much injuries, we would of snapped that T4 position up imo.

We would of snapped that T4 position if we weren't stupid on the road with the experimentations.
We're the reason Spurs and United have a chance.
Won't be surprised if Everton finishes in the top 4 with our long term injuries to key personnel.

Ok so I have finally come to peace with the fact that we won't be signing anyone.
Very disappointing but it's the hard truth.

Re: Winter Window || Jan 2014
To channel Red for a moment...
We now have two options in front of us:
1) Our committee identified Salah's worth at 10m pounds, as rumored, and refused to budge even 1m from that to land a player they wanted.
2) An official bid was never made, because he wasn't a particularly important/interesting target to us, as has been mentioned by a few sources since the Chelsea signing.
Now, I know everyone is hankering for a signing. But Red Alert, considering how you've made clear you think Salah wouldn't be the right man, surely YOU at least wouldn't blame the committee if it turned out 2 was the truth of it? You've been saying for sometime that you don't like the signing at any price, and I think everyone can agree that the wrong transfer is worse than no transfers.
Care to explain what upset you about the reported price?

Re: Winter Window || Jan 2014
There's less than a week to go until the window closes.
From all sources, Salah was the only one we had genuine interest in and we made him a primary target. We even tried to hi-jack the deal against Chelsea when it was clear he was going there. We stalled on the deal for 20+ days for 1m. Watch people excuse the committee here for their time wasting, lack of finding targets when they had SIX MONTHS to do so and blame FSG for the committee's stubborness / stupidity.
This committee has only made 1 "successful" transfer window, and that was January last year. They did well to get Mignolet and Sakho in the summer, but they didn't do enough in the summer. They have no plan B if they fail to get their targets and they've put us in a poor position right now; we're at risk at not making top 4 ffs. The teams around us have found momentum / settled with their new managers and we're crippled with injuries. Rodgers is still "experimenting" too....

Phone just sent the message, and idk how to edit using the 'mobile version'. Part II continued here.
We absolutely NEEDED signings this winter. I was against Salah thinking he was similiar to Sterling, but with the time invested in him, and the committee content he would help get top 4, why would you refuse to bid for 1M? Ridiculous.

Re: Winter Window || Jan 2014
I know we are all frustrated and I above all, but I'm willing to give the committee until the end of the window before going absolutely berserk. If they manage to save face in the next couple of days, good for us I'll be glad with any good addition to our area of need but otherwise you can expect a very abusive rant coming from me on February 1st. And should this debacle cost us a top 4 finish, well let's just say I hope someone really really feels the wrath for it.

Re: Winter Window || Jan 2014
Surely we'll buy someone in the four remaining days. It's so obvious that our squad is too thin. Every game half of our bench seems to consist of players Rodgers doesn't have a real faith in.
CM is the area in biggest need of a new face. At this point it's not even about outright quality, I'd be happy with a squad player signing, even that would make us better in midfield. I'm talking Tom Huddlestone, Leroy Fer or Momo Diame kind of quality - or even worse. Put in a 10m bid for Holtby. Or even someone like Nocerino, he went to West Ham on loan, getting him on loan would've been better than nothing. Plus it would've been epic to hijack West Ham's loan deal for him after Everton hijacked the Traore one.
Anyway, just bring a CM in, anyone.

Sometimes I feel the spectre of Carrol or Downing signing is haunting the present committee and they are too (needless) cautions regarding players or fees or whatever.

Its too soon to even think about signing Moses on permanent Rodgers, ffs he's looking at the easiest buy after losing out on so many targets. The player who has already been shit in the LFC red.
