I thought FIFA banned WC qualifying matches from being played at extremely high altitudes a while back. Does anyone know what excuse they gave to backtrack on such a clear issue.

I guess FIFA gives all countries an equal chance to bribe them. As long as your money is good, it doesn't matter if you're Bolivia or Ecuador.

stop it.. this sounds like hate to me broyo.

Ecuador drew in Venezuela where Colombia and Argentina have fallen, while also drawing in Uruguay which is never an easy task.

Ecuador hasn't lost in Quito in like 20 odd years or something as ridiculous, and I don't see it happening now.. they'll most likely see off Argentina, who look very different when they play away than they do at home and will probably nick more points away from home.

They only win at home. That's a fact. And they have a ridiculous advantage with the altitude. You yourself said that they haven't lost in Quito in 20 years. You think that's because they're a quality team or because they play at almost 2 miles above sea level?

combination of both. Its not like the elevation if scoring goals for them.. the elevation isn't on the field in cleats and a jersey running past markers. Ecuador are amazing at home and thats due to the talent at hand.. they're 2nd in qualifying and have looked very good doing so. Noboa, Valencia, Chucho, Caicedo, Montero, Rojas, Ayovi, Suarez, have proven to be class players and will certainly be a problem in Brazil 2014. I don't think you can discredit their talent because of the elevation. Mexico is pretty high too, and USA managed a draw.. teams are even managing draws in Quito.. that says a lot.

Lebanon draw to South Korea after being up 1-0 and the 4th ref added a staggering SEVEN minutes of extra-time to be played in which South Korea equalized and in doing so eliminated Lebanon from qualifying.

Mexico vs. Jamaica tonight at 8:30 p.m. Eastern US Time from Di Office in Kingston

Mexico with only 3 points from 3 games obligated to find a result in Kingston where they haven't had the best of times historically, while Jamaica with only 2 points in 3 games..so this is basically a must win for Di Reggae Bwoyz.

Jobi McAnuff will miss the game today aswell as Nosworthy.. two starters who are difference makers in their respectful positions. The German-Jamaican, Daniel Gordon, to make his debut today in that depleted back line of Jamaicas'.

Jamaican fullbacks lose Salcido who received a weighted pass from Guardado, Salcido crosses it first time into the box and Aldo De Nigris is there to slam it home with his head!

HARD LUCK LEBANON!!

The F**en referee added 7 minutes and South Korea were able to score the equalizer in the 97th minute!

We are officially out now, we should focus on Asia 2015 Qualifiers.

So, just Malawi v Namibia and Kenya v Nigeria today.

Those games pulled forward from the rest of Africa because of Nigeria being in the Confederations Cup.

Nigeria and Malawi are tied on points and Goal Differential atop the group on 5 +1

True, Lebanon and Oman have improved a lot.
Oman have a great chance to qualify to the World Cup, as least play the playoffs.

Iran are now in a good position to qualify to the World Cup, they'll play against us (Lebanon) next week in Tahran (We'll send a B Team, since we're already out/injuries). With 13pts, Iran will travel to Korea and play for a draw inorder to qualify!

UAE didn't do a good job in the WC Qualifiers, but since then they have made great results in Olympic games then in the Gulf Cup. They have a very talented young team now; IMO they'll reach at least the Semi-Finals in Asia 2015.

I'm deeply amazed by Lebanon. They have emarged from a long civil war 20 years ago and even since then they had lots of troubles, yet their team is beating the shit out of top asian team.

Don't really care about UAE (or other Arab idiots like Qatar, Kwait, Saudi who have the IQ of a 5-year old and inspiration of an invalid).

Iran is an troubling example. They had great players and they had great styles too. But they have been struggling since 1998.

Post match comment on the Japan vs Australia game from an Aussie piont of view...

The Sanchez wrote:Thought our first half was magnificent. We came out for full energy, closed down the line of pass/vision, gave little space/time for Kagawa and Honda to work their magic, defensively sound, held the ball well and created some very good opportunities in which we could have easily scored at least one.
Second half we were tired and having the likes of (Bresciano, Milligan, Holman, Niell, Oeg) who haven't been playing game time football for a long while means we needed to bring in fresh changes in which Holger didn't. Bresciano and Holman in particularly were struggling, Vidosic and Rogic needed to come into the game more earlier and continue shutting down lines of passes as well as be an extra bonus in attack. Our back four were weighed in to do a lot of last ditch work and had to rely a lot on Schwarzer to help us as our midfield were struggling to stay back. Noticed a lot of times Kruse had to keep tracking back due to the lack of organisation in the midfield.
