The defenders will defend and suddenly sneak a ball out while the midfielders and strikers rush forward

Add a goal keeper with good passing, too. (e.g. Manuel Neuer who often starts attacks by his pin-point long throws or kick-outs).

Yes, good idea, and come to think of it, the goalkeeper has to be a good goalkeeper too, since counterattacking teams' goalkeepers have to take on many attacks before a counterattack can be launchedrwo power wrote:Add a goal keeper with good passing, too. And don't forget very fast transitions. Mirko Slomka, the coach of Hannover 96, gave out the motto "10 seconds", which is the time he gives his players to complete an attack including the final shot on goal.
