To win a Cup competition, defence is key
Whether World Cup, UCL Cup, etc, the decently overall good team with good consistent defence has best chance to win the cup. A team with inconsistent or weak defence, even with superb midfielders and lethal strikers, will fail at some stage of the competition -- highly rated Argentina at the previous World Cup is a good example, they crash out at quarter finals despite topping the group stage with superb performances.

League can be won with weak defence as you get 3 points with a win and only one point with a draw, so it's attack all the wayaleumdance wrote:Talking about ladt season

Cup competitions are different, one match lost and your team probably can start packing their bags home
