Conte saw positives in Juve loss
Coach Antonio Conte was satisfied with the performance of his Juventus side despite the penalty shoot-out loss to Everton this morning.
The Guinness International Champions Cup game, played in San Francisco, ended 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes.
Kevin Mirallas gave the Premiership side the lead on 61 minutes, but Kwadwo Asamoah’s fine 80th minute strike drew the teams level.
Everton won 6-5 on spot-kicks after key misses from Andrea Pirlo and Federico Peluso.
“I saw some positive things,” Conte noted. “Obviously there were negative aspects as well, but it is better that those things emerge in friendly games because we have the time to improve.”
New signings Angelo Ogbonna, Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente all started the tie in the United States.
“I liked their application,” the former midfielder continued.
“Our legs are obviously heavy after 15 days of hard work at Chatillon and the first part of this retreat in America, but I think everyone played well at the end.”
Juventus 1-1 Everton (5-6 on penalties)
Goals: Mirallas 61, Asamoah 80.
Penalties: Osman (miss), Matri, Barkley, Asamoah, Mirallas, Vucinic, Jagielka, Vidal, Oviedo, Pirlo (miss), Stones, Motta, Coleman, Peluso (miss)
Juventus: Storari; Lichtsteiner, Ogbonna, Peluso; Isla (Motta 84), Vidal, Marrone (Pirlo 72), Asamoah, De Ceglie (Padoin 72); Tevez (Matri 84), Llorente (Vucinic 72)
Everton: Howard; Stones, Jagielka, Distin; Coleman, Gibson (Osman 63), Fellaini, Baines (Oviedo 63); Pienaar, Anichebe (Barkley 88), Mirallas

Re: Conte saw positives in Juve loss
We're always shit in pre-season
But this was a higher degree of shit
I'd love to know WHY Juve and Italy are incapable of doing anything remotely well in unimportant games, because all the reasons that are often listed apply to other clubs. Most of which do just fine in pre-season games.

pre-season or not, when you are totally outplayed by scrub teams 4 games in a row is definitely cause to worry about....

So, your suggestion is arrange more games, more traveling, more fatigue for the players?
Honestly, I think this is the first year some people have watched Juventus in pre-season. I remember being in the stadium when Sporting Lisbon rolled over them. That was the year they went undefeated.
The game vs the U-20 is a yearly thing, shouldn't be cancelled in place of another worthless exhibition.
There isn't really any genuine cause for concern to take from pre-season. As long as Juventus isn't dealing with a whole mess of injuries prior to the season beginning they will be in good shape.
