Napoli hinted at meetings with Porto and Jackson Martinez’s agent declared “the offer is not far from the request.”

The Colombian hitman has a clause in his contract worth €40m, though it is reported the Partenopei have bid €32m.

“Porto do not want to sell the player because he is too important for the team,” agent Manuel Manzo told Antena 2 in Colombia.

“In order to have him, Napoli will have to pay the entire clause. In any case, negotiations are continuing and if an important proposal comes in then we’ll take it into consideration.

“The offer from Napoli is not far from Porto’s request, but right now the only option is to pay the clause.”

Napoli are in London for the Emirates Cup, where they play Arsenal today and Porto tomorrow.

“I prefer not to express myself on the negotiations,” director of sport Riccardo Bigon told O Jogo.

“I would like to point out that we don’t have to play against Porto in order to talk to Jackson Martinez’s club. We can talk to them any time we want.”

Yeah and I believe that Ljajic would be twice as good as a partner to Higuain than an out and out striker would be Laughing

Unless they feel he's just going to take playing time from Insigne, who is deployed on the left.

We're being linked with him quite a lot lately.

He is a Paulinho/Vidal/Keita/Martinez type of player.

Not overly technical, but more than competent and has some skills. Can do alot of things well, if not superb at any one thing with the ball. But his main strength to me is his size and strength combined with mobility using his defensive skills in the midfield to press the opponent into errors aswell as intercept passes.

GoonerJay watches a ton of Sevilla and he would be able to give you a better indication of his ability than anyone else.

We'd benefit from a legit Vidal back up. We have an abundance of CMs but all of them are more suited to Marchisio's role. A big Vidal injury would be costly to us because we'd have much less presence in MF

Kondogbia is not looking to be the backup though unless it's for Madrid... he said that in an interview after the U20 WC. He's just waiting to see if Madrid make an offer before pulling the trigger on another un-named club.

In Lens, the peeps there seem to think that Arsenal has already let him know that they would trigger his clause (around 10 mil).

Don't think Juve have much of a chance here, but i could be wrong.

That's his fee, Blackpool already agreed it with Cardiff earlier in summer but he turned them down because he wanted to stay in the north.

I'm more skeptical whether we would pay it, but we are paying 8m for Gomis so who knows Laughing
