well they were heavily linked to Mkhitaryan....so they are after a player of his ilk it appears, then being linked to Eriksen after Mkhitaryan went to Dortmund.

I realize Costa is a completely different type of player

my point was if they are going to spend this sort of money on Costa, why have they not persewed Eriksen who they have been linked with who is actually worth the money

Do they really need Eriksen when they have Coutinho?

We need someone who is good going forward, can score goals as well can provide defensive cover.. kinda like a B2B. That's why we were interested in Mkhitaryan in first place. Coutinho in the hole with Gerrard and Lucas in the pivot will be defensively messed up.

So yeah.. this move doesn't make sense unless we're planning to play him, Coutinho, Sturridge and Suarez in the same lineup. Apparently he's not considered as a potential replacement for Suarez according to Liverpool Echo.

Costa is a c**t but so are Suarez, Drogba, Rooney, Balotelli and numerous other great strikers.

Not sure why people are holding that against him.

So then no? Because Eriksen is not that kind of guy. I mean he can do the first two and he will try hard defensively, but he really isnt that kind of guy.
