Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
Moyes's reaction > 'We had chances to make it two - we hit the bar, but I said to the players at half-time ‘this won’t be enough, we have to do more’
Note the last part of the comment and still did his actions justified what he said? Certainly not. If that is what he was trying to do, then why the rats ass he subbed nani and brought in out of all people giggs, who simply cannot be better than nani in the final third of the pitch given his age and form.
Then came the biggie, subbing a defender for an attacker and totally messing up the formation, that eventually led to the lack of communication among the back 4 and led to their goal.
He is doing one thing and saying something else to defend his atrocious decisions.
Its certainly a match where he should take the blame for throwing away 2 points.
Rooney was shite and we had Kagawa, a direct substitute who should have brought in at least at the strock of 70 mins.
They were playing very high lines and were trapping us offsides continuously and we had Chicha who breaks offsides better than anyone else in the entire squad.
What is he turning this title winning team into ffs. He is ruining us by every match.

Tears of happiness when Hernandez scored...this team was dead until Wazza tied it, we needed this win badly
we tried to play through the middle all game, then we scored 3 goals from balls out wide.
this midfield is simply not good enough still

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
I missed the match and I had to watch it later.
We didn't create much at all, lack of width from the left-side. Rooney and Kagawa occupying the same space a lot they were too close together at times. It's fine Kagawa drifting in it at times, but he also has to give a cross in sometimes or help stretch the opponent with his positioning. It might be Moyes telling him to play like that yesterday, not sure. Januzaj seems to know when to come in towards the middle or be down the right.
Idk why Smalling started today with Rafael on the bench. Smalling didn't have a good game. Anyway, Moyes made 3 good substitutions and deserves credit for it.
Also upsetting to see the fans boo Nani and I think the team at half-time, yesterday. It doesn't help the team or Nani. I'm not sure if it was because he walked off or his performance. They still shouldn't have booed him or the team however.

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
It's worrying how much we depend on crosses to create opportunities. We have zero creativity coming through the middle, that's why we are struggling to score from open play this season.
Our defending yesterday was poor. What was an experienced defender like Evans clearing the ball franticly like that (For Stoke's opening goal)...Not only that, it was poor the way their player beat like 3 of ours to deliver the cross in the first place.
Stoke created the more clear cut chances in the first half and again DDG came to our rescue. Arnautovic was a constant menace, Smalling was finding it hard against him.
We got a goal back and I thought we would go on to beat them convincingly, until a min later, Jones gives away a silly FK, and what do ya know, their constant threat Arnautovic scores. I was thinking this is WBA all over again.
This is what i believe changed the game for us. The subs that Moyes made. Dropping Rooney deeper to the middle in place of Cleverley, who was really poor. Januzaj for Nani, who was having one of his frustrating games (didn't deserve to get booed). And Hernandez coming on. Moyes deserves credit for that after the shitstorm he recieved, and rightly so, for his subs v Saints.
The 2nd impact on the game to favour us was the injury to Arnautovic. He was causing us problems in the entire first half. Him coming off meant Stoke had no quality outlet going forward and had to just basically defend the entire 2nd half.
-Special mention for Januzaj. Only 18, but the level of trust the senior players have in him and the maturity he displays on the field is outstanding to me. Everytime Carrick or Rooney got the ball, they would look to Januzaj to pass to. We/they know that this kid can make something out of nothing. He was dribbling past the Stoke players at every opportunity, to the point where they had to foul him to stop him. 18 years old and already one of our best players.
De Gea has been great too. Has saved our arse numerous times this season and if it weren't for him, we would be even further down the table.
Positives:
- a win at OT....finally
-DDG
-Moyes' substitutions
-Kagawa getting a consecutive game as a starter
-comeback
-Januzaj
Negatives:
-Glaring MF problem (as been stated for the umpteenth time)
- Nani, Cleverley and Smalling were all rubbish
- Booing the team at HT *smh* and booing Nani *smh*
- Defence in the 1st half
Very important win for Moyes. You can tell how much pressure he is in by the way he reacted at the end. We shouldn't have to scrape past Stoke in this manner at OT. Going into the game, Stoke only scored 4 goals this season, they managed half of that at OT. They are an awful negative team, to have dropped points against them would have been catastrophic for Moyes imo....and the team of course.
Hopefully we go on a good run of wins now.

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
this come from behind victory hopefully turns out to be just the kind of tonic we need to go on and achieve greater things this season. It might have brought that belief back among the players that its just a matter of time for things to change for us.
moyes deserves credit, primarily for the subs but also for starting with Kagawa and Nani (who unfortunately had a terrible game)
The logic behind going with smalling as we know could be to negate their height advantage. Hence we cannot actually criticize moyes for that. Its just a minor blip imo
Only thing he could have done different with the starting lineup perhaps was he could have gone with a more physical fellaini in the middle instead of clevs.
Other than that he didnt raise any eyebrows this time, for a change
The players read that defs played like shite, thats a whole different thing and he cant do anything regarding that at least until the half time hair-dryer.

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
I think Cleverley was rushed back from injury. Normally, his short passing movement, pressing and positioning is what he does well. All which was lacking yesterday (not only from him). As for Fellaini, he hasn't been playing great lately and I think Moyes was kind of forced to push Cleverley into the first XI and he (Cleverley) wasn't ready. I hope Fellaini finds his feet soon, he doesn't have to be a world beater, but at least put in decent performances against the lesser sides.

One of the best performances ever I've seen by Man U. Could have easily been 12.
Moyes has really started to turn it around in the last 3 games...time for an extension I think

Fcking shit. That's what we are.

With Moyes in charge, I always shit it when we are leading by a goal in the closing minutes. He instills no belief and character whatsoever. Always inevitable we would concede.

Fair result in the end. We are incredibly lucky to get outta there with a point.
We are a joke guys. We simply are.
Just underlines the million dollar fact that we are pathetic without Carrick and RVP.
Clerverly, Smalling..what are these guys thinking. Its utterly baffling to see some of their passes and tackles.
Rooney didnt deserve to play the game after 7 or odd minutes, spineless refereeing once again.
To sum up We are absolutely poor, we wont be winning anything whatsoever this season.

1 of the worst central midfield pairing ever to have turned out for united - cleverly and fellaini.
cleverly playing the full 90 minutes itself speaks volumes about our atrocious deficiency in that area as well as Moyes's whole tactical ineptness.

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
In light of things, a draw was deserved given the fact that Rooney, who opened the score for us, shouldn't even have been on the field at that point.
I feel as though I can't take any positives from this game whatsoever. Maybe Rooney's performance, but he let me down with that act of agression. He could have handicapped the team for 83+ mins if the ref had the balls to send him off.
It was just a poor performance from top to bottom.
- That midfield Fellaini has got to be the most immobile player I have ever seen. Dwells on the ball for like an eternity before he decides on what to do with it. Slow as hell, and always seems to be a little too keen to stick a leg out or climb all over Cardiff's players back. Needs to tone down that aggressive play a bit. It seems refs put extra protection to any player he comes across, even if it's a 50/50 fair tackle.
Cleverley is poor to average. Typical Cleverley performance these days is: simple short pass sideways or back to the defence, stay static, no forward movement or passes, retrieve the ball and then simple short passes etc....rinse and repeat. Useless mf.
Januzaj had his worst game for us this season. kept on trying to take players on when there was no route through and kept giving away posession, kept on slipping a few times. I won't go too hard on him tho', atleast he doesn't hide like Cleverley.
-Smalling at Rb is an eye sore. The guy can't pass the ball, can't dribble!! Moyes ffs, stop playing him at RB and choose Fabio...you know, an actuall full back. Smalling is a great defender, but the guy is an awful footballer- If that makes any sense.
Welbeck.....can't score to save his life. Simple as. Hate seeing how Sturridge has all of sudden turned profilic, whilst Welbeck continues to screw up clear cut chances.
Evra's marking for their equaliser was horrific. He didn't even bother to run with Kim. Just stood in one spot smh.
And what on Earth was Rooney thinking at the end? Should have buried that chance instead of trying to pick out welbeck.
We need to stop being so negative everytime we take the lead. scoring then sitting back inviting pressure will lead to similar results this season. Moyes needs to be more brave. It's the reason why his Everton teams used to always surrender leads and draw games.

We don't even play good football. Last season, I know, we didn't play a great style of football either, but at least we won. Now, we're not even winning and we play like shit.
It also baffles me how Valencia can consistently play like crap but gets to start.
It's going to be an important January transfer window.

So frustrating that we keep on dropping points. Wayne Rooney is carrying the team atm, frightening to think where we'd be without him right now.
Couple of pointers.
- Phil Jones needs to stop conceding so many dangerous free kicks.
-Cleverley is awful, a coward and is useless.
- Welbeck was annonymous.
-Rooney was brilliant.
That's all.

The front 4 apart from Rooney were terrible. Why it took so long to make a change was really incredible. Today's result would have been fine, but when you drop points against Cardiff you have to make it up elsewhere.
Phil Jones has picked up 5 yellow cards now, so he's suspended against Everton
