Re: UEFA Financial Fair Play
you know what would actually be financial fair play ?
limit the transfer budget for everybody . and watch teams like Porto and Benfica destroy the likes of Madrid and Psg in the market thanks to good scouting and good ol common sense .
" you can't spend money because you didn't earn enough "
"you 're also not allowed to get a wealthy benefactor to inject cash into your team and help you achieve the first condition "
" and btw , you're not allowed to buy third party owned players on the cheap , because apparently that's slavery "
fair play !

And back-room ties to third party ownership groups and shady deals over young foreign players.

I really should pay more attention. The post about Liverpool being under investigation was in 2014. We are almost mid way through 2015. Glad things worked out with them though Sportz initial grandstanding was in hindsight, just grandstanding.

Re: UEFA Financial Fair Play
Uefa could be set to relax its Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, with president Michel Platini admitting a decision will be made in June.
The rules, which were first implemented in 2011, forbid clubs from spending beyond their means, with significant fines, squad limits and suspensions enforced across the Champions League and Europa League for those guilty of breaching the designated guidelines.
But the Uefa chief has told RTL that Europe’s governing body has agreed to review the agreed boundaries and could well decide to allow a relaxation of the financial controls.
“I think the regulations that have been made are fine, but FFP was voted in by the clubs,” Platini explained.
“The French press have questioned it since Roman Abramovich at Chelsea can buy players while in France they cannot.
“Today in France they want another system, but if Qatar [owners of Paris Saint-Germain] had bought AC Milan they would want stricter enforcement. As it is, the Italians also say they want a lighter FFP.
“I understand that we are in a world of false bottoms, but we say this openly. I think we’ll lighten things up.”
However, Platini went on to say it will not be his decision to make alone.
“This will be for the Uefa Executive Committee to decide. You’ll know the outcome at the end of June.”
The latest revelations come after a recent Uefa meeting with the European Club Association, which represents many of the biggest clubs across the continent who are most effected by the FFP controls.

Re: UEFA Financial Fair Play
My issue with FFP, is that they take a 'one shoe size fits all' approach. It works out well for the clubs that are well off, but with more under-developed/less well off clubs its hard for them to reach or climb back up.
Its sort of like the IMF, except instead of lending money to less-developed countries in addition to enforcing macro and micro policies. They just use policy prescription and thats that

Are you serious ?
Italian clubs, mainly Inter and Milan got burned by FFP.The top clubs on the other hand such as Barca,United and Madrid have become much stronger financially as a result of FFP.Cant say it hasnt worked. Its ensured the big clubs stay big forever.
I dont feel like cycles will exist anymore.Have a bad year or two ? Spend 200m and muscle your way to the top.Ofcourse having a competent management helps too.

Oh right, clubs are struggling with their ridiculous decisions in the transfer market like paying €50m for David Luiz or paying even more ridiculous wages to average players (like some clubs do in Italy) so let's change the rules for them

So i get it,you're one of those people that prefer to see Bayern,Barca,Madrid dominate football for the next two decades because thats exactly whats going to happen if it stays the same way.
People dint have a problem when Milan stumped up the cash in the 80s or Lazio in the 90s or even Chelsea in the 00's.They sure as hell shouldnt be having a problem now.
All of you were enjoying United's downfall some time ago while they'll be back in no time spending their way to the top and dominating English football again.Thank FFP for that.

Re: UEFA Financial Fair Play
You're giving FFP too much credit. Man Utd will dominate football again because they worked hard to become one of the most marketable football clubs in the world way before FFP was even an idea and now are able to negotiate huge deals with sponsors. Their hard work shouldn't be undermined by allowing random dudes to splash money at players and clubs with NO or minor consequences.
You seem like a small club advocate (correct me if I'm wrong) but FFP hasn't started the whole 'big club buys from small club', nor has it made it more apparent, it has always existed and will always exist. But what FFP has achieved atleast is make the big clubs question their decisions in dealings even with smaller clubs, because making the wrong decision can bite you hard in the ass which also gives smaller clubs leverage to ask for more money which if they are smart, use it to strengthen their financial position.
What FFP achieves is encourage clubs to hire talented people in football and punish those who don't and act carelessly. Sure it isn't THE answer but it's a step in the right decision. So hearing this news really disappoints me as a fan of football which has always encouraged talented people to find a way to the top.

Re: UEFA Financial Fair Play
United have worked hard in enhancing their brand but FFP has infact paved the way for ridiculous sponsorship deals.Adidas for example has set a precedent now with that humongous deal with United. This is definitely a consequence of FFP and big clubs have fully exploited that to secure their position at the top.
I'm not a small club advocate but i do like to see the sport being competitive rather than the same teams winning over and over again.Honestly with the existing rules,it would be extremely hard to see new people getting involved with the football business unless the team is a PL team where you are guaranteed to make money so its good to see the rules are getting relaxed but going by your reactions you'd have to think FFP is getting totally wiped off or something which isnt the case.

Re: UEFA Financial Fair Play
All FFP has ever done is keep the status quo and make sure the big teams stay on top and small tops stay on the bottom.
It goes against everything that the word " sport " stands for.

They saw that intervention sometimes goes against their club. Notice that the fans of fiscally responsible teams are still mostly for FFP

why wouldn't they ? FFP guarantees their teams a comfy spot at the top while setting up entry barriers to smaller teams attempting to join them .

By the way, looks like Bielsa is staying I love that man. Drives me mad at times and makes strange personnel decisions... but since we suck anyhow, might as well play sexy and have some drama to keep you entertainedBarrileteCosmico wrote:They saw that intervention sometimes goes against their club. Re: UEFA Financial Fair Play
I don't think that equity investment is fiscally irresponsible at all. If you're saddling the team with debt to cover the losses and/or make purchases, then it's another story. That's the big differentiation that FFP just ignores.BarrileteCosmico wrote:They saw that intervention sometimes goes against their club. Re: UEFA Financial Fair Play
It’s reported a relaxation of Financial Fair Play rules would not apply to those previously penalised, such as Inter and Roma.
UEFA announced plans to ease the FFP restrictions from next year, which will be voted on at the end of this month.
The rules try to create a balance between revenue and expenditure, preventing rich club owners from pumping endless sums of money into the coffers.
However, while the relaxation of FFP is good news for many clubs, L’Equipe claim it will not apply to sides already penalised.
This includes Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Monaco, Inter and Roma.
They’d have to wait until at least 2019 to take advantage of the new regulations, some up to 2020.
However, as Inter have not actually qualified for any UEFA competition this season, they can burst through the spending barrier and hope to balance the books with sales by the time they do get back into Europe.
The same is true of Milan, who are ready to spend €35m on Porto striker Jackson Martinez, €28m on Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia and a huge salary for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Rossoneri can also balance the books because they have numerous players with big wages who will be out of contract next month, freeing up cash for transfers.
