Essien Injury Confirmed

Michael Essien suffered an injury to his right knee during training this week.

He will undergo tests over the next few days to determine the extent of that injury. Until we have the full results of those tests we will not be commenting further.

Sources are saying 6 months. Hope we don't buy a replacement because this will allow Ramires and Mikel to have more chances.

Knew this would happen, but didn't expect him to get an injury this early tbh.

acl tear probably thats what i have alot of players suffer from that very common injury

sources have also said a lot of things, wait for an officical statement.

I hope he won't be out long. I would love to start the season with Mikel in DM though.

He's always out injured and has been out of form for the last couple of seasons.

I don't because we won't have false hopes and expectations of him again, because last season he really screwed us over IMO.

IMO guys, Essien coming back could be a good thing.

If he could find aome kind of form he and Ramires would do well in the doube pivet.

To be honest we have been hard on him because he was no where near his old form but lat year he was decent. Just imagine if he manages to fit AVB's system we will have the cover we need.

Essien and Ramires would provide cover throughout the defence and we still have Lampard and Mata for playmaking.

It would also allow the sale of Mikel and give Romeu a chance to step up as back up.

Thoughts? Sorry to bump a dead thread but this was the only Essien related thread.

Lampard struggles higher up the pitch, would prefer Raul there myself.

Essien I won't hold my breath in expecting anything decent from him, like last season he really let me down.

I think having even the Essien from last year would give us plenty. But suggesting a midfield of Ramires, Essien, and Lampard is ridiculous since we went that formation all last year.

That is much better midfield.

Essien only let us down because we have such high standards.

The formation helped us place better didn't it blue? With the obvious exception of Torres who now has Mata and Sturridge flanking him.

Carlo didn't mind playing defensively, but is AVB willing to sacrifice style in favor of wining. I am not sure he would play Ramires and Essien together.
