Had more to do with the clubs being desperate and rich at the same time tbh

Cavani was sold for loads, no way Napoli could have coped going from a trident of Lavezzi, Cavani and Hamsik to in 2 years having some scrub lone striker

Arsenal fans were self-harming over Wengers budgeting, and Arsene had to find dat big money buy.

In a normal market,Oezil isnt worth 50m.It was simply a desperate deadline day scoop.In normal circumstances provided Madrid had transfer listed him earlier in the window,he would've gone for much less.

Ofcourse the price tag is being deemed redundant now considering he's been doing well for them.

player is worth what a team is willing to pay, Ozil has been worth every penny to Arsenal this season and appears to be the final peice that Wenger needed to get his team playing at the level he wanted....therefore his fee is justified and if Arsenal win the league will be further justified

Ok then,let me put it this way.Selling Oezil for 50m is a great piece of business considering they bought him for like 10-15m(?) from Bremen.I wouldnt brand it as a 'loss' for Madrid whatever way you want to interpret it.

what, you mean the way he was a big factor against patetico last season? ok. Sure he could have helped, but we could still have lost, because that's how good atletico and barca still are.

i maintain not a big loss, what we missed the most this season was Alonso, and that was pretty obvious.

Ozil for all his gifts, was very easy to replace.

Why should Bale even be mentioned in this context ? We're talking about Madrid as a selling club and they did a good business deal by offloading Oezil for 50m.When you're looking to offload a player you automatically lose a lot of leverage and in those circumstances Madrid did well as the selling club.

Honestly I don't understand the appeal. I mean I could if it was 2002-03 in the heyday of the galactico era but now? This is a club thats run like a circus and despite spending a billion dollars has won one trophy of note in the past 5 years, and has been to one cl final in the last ten. Could understand the appeal of a barca or united but madrid? come off it..
