@Clutch, have you been reading futbol news today? Reported that Club will sell Rodrygo for 150M, likely to Liverpool. Also in the news is Brahim Diaz is likely to move back to Milan. And, they have or are reaching an agreement for Wirtz to come in 2025 (IMO likely to arrive in Madrid with Xabi Alonso). And finally Joselu is being signed for 1.5M (at end of June when his contract with Espanyol expires). I think the funds from Rodrygo sale will lead to Davies coming this summer.


If Both Rodrygo and Dias both depart, it gives a clear indication of how team will play.

They will likely play a lot of the the 4- 3- 1 - 2 formation with Vini and Mbappe up front and Birmingham behind them plus it allows the all of the starter ready midfielders to play.

Plus it stops the battle for reserves to get minutes. Up front it will be Endick, Güler and Joselu. Midfield will be Modric and Ceballos plus possibly Nico Paz. And defense will likely be Militao, Rudiger backed up with Alaba, Nacho; Carvajal backed up by Lucas and Davies / Mendy likely rotated based on offense vs defense need. And then Courtois backed up by Lunin.

Everything falls neatly into place if those two moves happen.

Club last week they are increasing Dias contract both in salary and length. And today they have reported that they have declined Liverpool’s substantial offer for Rodrygo saying he is key to plans and have no intention of selling him!

That means along with Vini and Mbappe who will start (and likely finish) most games, they have Rodrygo, Gúler, Endick, Dias and Joselu, battling for playing time. And all 5 of them, deserve sufficient playing time!

There are not loaning any of them out. They are renewing Dias, signing Joselu and have stated repeatedly that both Endick and Güler are not being loaned out. Btw Bellingham told someone the other day that he believes Güler has more talent than him!

And the overload isn’t just with the forwards. Playing 3 midfielders means rotations with Camavinga, Tchouameni and Valverde plus Modric will be first off the bench. And reports are they are trying to sign Wirtz (for 2025) and Matantuono (initially for Castilla, he’s only16 (has an Italian passport enabling him to come to Europe)). That suggests there are not sold for longer term on Valverde, Tchouameni, Camavinga!

Plus it looks like they will have Davies and Mendy wanting minutes at LB, and with CBs, it seems like Nacho has decided to leave, which will mean Yoro or Marin added. If it’s Yoro, then you have both Yoro and Alaba not happy with Rudiger, Militao starting. Mind you, who knows at this point how good either of Militao, Alaba will be with ACL recoveries.

Then in goal, you already have Lunin upset that he won’t get much playing time with Courtois back to form.

You were right when you said there isn’t enough minutes available to satisfy everyone! Ancelotti will have his hands full!

I predict there will be exits in 2025 summer.

I think I know the club’s strategy.

Forwards, as stated above, there are 2 fixed spots for Mbappe and Vini. The other spot currently goes to Rodrygo. But with way Güler is now playing he will be pushing for Rodrygo’s spot and likely to outright win the battle before the season is over. Endick, next season, will be like both Vinicius and Rodrygo were at same age in first year at Madrid be used sparingly. It won’t be until his second year were he might be a contender for substantial playing time. Joselu and Brahim will as with last year, be the off the bench relief. Joselu is being offered a one year contract, allowing for the Endick adjustment to Europe. Plus the surplus of talent allows for competent replacements if injuries are encountered. There are a couple of possible developments that could lower the number if forwards. Saudia Arabia is trying to sign Joselu as well plus there is interest in EPL. He may, given his age, take advantage of one of those offers given he is likely only at Madrid for next season. The other is Rodrygo being sold. There already are signs of his discontent with Mbappe arrival and club may just be posturing in rejecting the EPL bids for him, likely trying to exact a ridiculously high bid for him!

Midfield - I think the midfield will work out with Bellingham and a Tchouameni / Valverde / Camavinga  rotation. Modric a late game relief role and Ceballos the extra spare when needed. Wirtz arrival for season following will bring in another young talent, but how the others perform this season will determine what role he does get, plus Modric will no doubt be going in that season. There is also the possibility of Tchouameni being converted into a permanent CB, once Alaba and Rudiger are in exit route or if Militao or Alaba don’t regain form after the ACL injuries. Matantuono won’t be ready for 1st team for a couple of years.

Defense. All decisions re CBs are awaiting Nacho’s decision to stay or go. Latest indication is he will accept an offer elsewhere, which will result in pursuit of Yoro with Marin a possible alternative if they wait a year for Yoro plus there is the use of Tchouameni as a CB if needed. The strategy, I believe is to hold out on both Yoro and Davies until Lille or Bayern accept a lower price. They believe they have both players agreeing to terms to come, either this year or next and will not renew nor accept offers from any other club.
With LB, they will play Davies or Mendy depending upon need, defense or offense. If Davies doesn’t come until next year, then likely they will continue with Fran as a reserve for another year. Plus there is possibly use of Camavinga if needed. At RB, they will not look for alternatives until following season. And finally at Portero, there is the possibility of Lunin leaving (I hope not) and if that happens they could sign Kepa, but only if price is low or possibly another loan deal.

He is awful, which is what I expect from a 17 year old playing against grown men. This is why Yamal is such a phenomenon. 16yo and playing on equal footing with Rudiger, Gvardiol and the best of the best.

He wasn’t awful. I look at all the excellent youth talent that is in la liga; Yamal, Pedri, Gabi, Cubarsi, Balde, Güler, Bellingham, Camavinga, Endick, Nico, etc. there are more, these are just off the top of my head. And not to mention those under 25. The future looks good for both of our clubs!

Brazil having to start this unexperienced kid is a bigger story than his performance.

It's all about Arda right now. Endrick will be able to develop in peace behind Vini and Rodrygo. Never seen a ready player from the Brazilian league apart from Neymar. If he works hard he can become a great player.
