Bayern 2012/13 vs Barca 2010/11
It had to be done.
If these two teams could face each other, who would win? How would this game go?
You could also use Barca 08/09 if you want.

Re: Bayern 2012/13 vs Barca 2010/11
Barcelona 2011 is superior. Bayern are an exceptional team, but Barcelona took Johan Cruyffs dutch principles to their max. Bayern are avery well oiled machine, but they are still a level below the Barcelona team of 2011. Both teams obviously follow th dutch model of football.
Even though Ajax might be fading away in thee distance, our football still dominates the continent. I am glad that these players can put on a delightful show based on the dutch principles and positional play.

Re: Bayern 2012/13 vs Barca 2010/11
I have always said this but i will say it again, imo,Barcelona 2010/2011 is the best team ever. They dont have the best individuals but they were just insane, they didnt dominate just the possession (like today's barca) they downright dominated the opposition.I remember that scoring against them was actually a big deal back then because it was so hard to create clear chances. When a player got the ball, this individual instantly turned into a headless chicken because the moment a player got the ball there were at least 3 players marking him.Back then their forwards made an insane amount of pressing which they stopped for some reason.
Bayern would obsviusly make a case for themselves, but you cant compare the barca that faced Bayern to the 10-11 barca

Although it's easier to say Barca are better, we don't really know how they'd handle Bayern's defending style. Barca wouldn't be conceding 7 goals over 2 legs though. They were better defensively under Pep.

Astute observations my dear Ganso. Indeed, that Barcelona was a culmination of almost 4 decades of footballing philosophies and principles that started in the youth academy of Jong Aax in 1970. The only other team to reach such a pinnacle of our highly treasured sport is none other than Totalvoetball Ajax of the early 1970s. The blueprint of modern football.

Even though Barca 2011 was insane, this Bayern side really impressed me throughout the year
If they were to face each other, i think we might see an even match.
Although i dont think that either of these 2 teams is the best of all time. They are certainly up there among the greats

The pressing was pretty intense, really hard to sustain for a long time. Still , it was a great pleasure to witness that. As Henry said back then '' it looks easy like that but you got to run , a lot ''

Re: Bayern 2012/13 vs Barca 2010/11
i think its pretty even but its a bit difficult to argue against this bayern team, defensive record this year was just absurd, the trophies they won, some of the score lines in big matches namely the barca skunking over 2 legs, etc.
i would bet statistically this bayern team this year would blow barca 2010/11 out of the water, but thats just one way of looking at it. its a tough call, really, barca clearly would edge attack but bayerns defense this year was just unheard of.

This Bayern team is just one of those great teams like Man Utd 07-08. Ancelottis's AC Milan side was better than this Bayern imo..
Regarding Barca 10-11..By far the best team i have seen. They were playing Alien football at times.

I don't know which team is best per se, but this Bayern team is certainly the most flexible one of the teams.

Doubt it considering Ancelotti's team pretty much specialized against teams who played similar to Jupp's Bayern.
& Clockwork, Dutch/Ajax football is the complete opposite of modern football. Football isn't governed into one bulk of progress as such statements reek of ignorance.

hard to say, but bayern would still bully them around physically. apart from that they would know what to do with the ball when they have it, unlike ManU in 09 e.g.

lol, if anything modern football are getting their queues from Sacchi as opposed to Cruyff. Dortmund are a clear example of that and Bayern Munich as well although their pressing game isnt as brutal as borussia's. No one is trying to copy cruyff teams but barcelona and ajax (forgive my oversimplification). tactical battle between bayern and barca this year was probably modern time sacchi vs cruyff

Re: Bayern 2012/13 vs Barca 2010/11
While i agree to some extent that Ancelotti's Milan can make a case against this Bayern side, but i think that they have far too good in all aspects of their play for Ancelotti's Milan to beat them. As Viva said, this Bayern side does have a back up plan
-They have shown how tactically versatile they are throughout the season, Toni Kroos and Thomas Muller have been a key reason for their flexibility. Both are really intelligent players continually on the lookout for space and are doubtlessly amongst the world's finest in terms of footballing IQ. Muller does so largely in contributing a decisive moment in the final third, offering some added verticality to Bayern's play. Kroos alternates his movement in going from side to side, making overloads on the flanks to dropping in deep and helping Martinez and Schweinsteiger dominate possession and dictate play.
-Second of all the, most of Bayern's forwards contribute to the defensive part of the game. Mandzukic has proven that there is more to the role at the top level than simply sticking the ball in the back of the net, Ribery and Robben track all the way back to support their fullbacks. Hell in most of the games, Ribery does more defending than Alaba
-My last point is in Bayern's play, the overall attitude has been one of increased verticality, especially when transitioning from defence into attack.
Their side has a lot of power and pace, along with excellent technique, their ability to counter attack and move from their own defensive third into the attacking third has made them an astonishing side, seriously, just watch how they transition the ball out of their half, its insane. Besides that they have been aesthetically pleasing to watch.

Re: Bayern 2012/13 vs Barca 2010/11
Ancelotti's milan was a fantastic team but could struggle against fast athletic teams. I remember them almost getting knocked out of CL by psg, and of course the 4-0 aganst super depor. We've already seen an (older)pirlo struggle immensely against the pressing of muller, and the narrowness of ancelotti's formation might hurt them against the bayern wide attack.

They would physically bully prime Abidal and Puyol?
I somehow doubt that.
A lot of people seem to forget that as well Barca 2011 being far superior to any team in the last 20 years they also were no joke physically.
That backline of Alves-Puyol-Pique-Abidal was no joke, i mean they hardly ever lost a game together
Barca would win this at a canter, this Bayern is a great side but lets be real they would never get the ball and Barca's pressing in 2011 make Bayern's look like a load of disorganised kids in a park.
Best team i have seen in my life time and its not even close.
