They were cack throughout the tournament. Battered Spain and deserve some credit there, but barely eeked out a win against AUSTRALIA, won the final group game against a Chile side who were already through anyway, needed 2 dying-minute goals to get by sodding Mexico in the first knockout round, then proceeded to score 0 goals in 240 minutes including needing penalties to get past Costa Rica in the quarters and playing mind-numbingly horrendous football against an Argentina side who themselves have hardly set this tournament alight. For one of the better squads in the competition, that's pretty poor, and certainly doesn't constitute "genius" from their manager as United fans were so eager to anoint him after his heroic penalty-shootout win against CONCACAF minnows Costa Rica last week.

Their defence was good, but they only really attacked with three players so they had a lot of players left to defend.

I think LVG is a good manager, but I think there is a reason that he left the likes of Barca and Bayern, It'll be the same reason his eventual sacking at Utd comes.
