Can't wait to see FM beasts Sanogo and Mitrovic play together next season.

I'm not a Luiz hater but for 25 mil we can definitely get someone else, since he's more in the mold of a Piqué than a Puyol. Unfortunately though u can't just up and replace Puyi.

Luiz has worse positioning than Mascherano ffs, he is a disaster waiting to happen at all times. I really really really dont want him to go to Barca. cant even imagine how mistake prone he would be, especially in la liga
he was a better DM than CB this year says it all really

You're not getting Luiz anyway. Since when did Chelsea become a selling club?

Shows you don't watch him and basing your entire opinion of him on the past.
1. He hasn't been a better DM than CB and he's disaster at DM not CB.
2. He hardly makes mistakes anymore at Chelsea why would he in a league where the tempo suits him a lot more?
3. Mascherano has a lot worse positioning than Luiz.
Can anyone actually name a mistake he has made this season?
Eagerly await the predictable answer of he's made loads so there's too many to name.
AKA you haven't watched him this season, ask any Chelsea fan and they will tell you there are a LOT more safe and secure when Luiz is in the back 4 these days then when they play him in midfield or rest him for Terry/Ivanovic/Cahill.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.III
Luiz may look good in the DL doesn't mean he will be successful at Barca. I can understand he has improved a lot from the mess he used to be but I still dont like him, he isnt reliable and has a tendency to play rough which wont get him very far with the refs in spain. and yes, he has been better at DM than CB, rafa played him there and he played best under rafa
he was better in portugal than he is now, and he still became crap when he went to england

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.III
Luiz is an overrated CB for Chelsea but it's amazing how much better he plays when he's next to Thiago Silva. And he's definitely not better as a DM. His positioning in the midfield is even worse. He decision making is awful and he tries to dribble too much.

Not denying that but he's heck of a lot better than some of the posters on here think he is.
If he goes to Barca he will prove the doubters wrong i'm certain of it.

He should, he only has to worry about beating "maybe" 2 other teams
But seriously, he's not as horrible as people make him out to be, but he's still not a good defender.
I do agree with Mole though, because Barca is perfect for his style of play and that style will limit his inherent weaknesses.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.III
Some things I cannot agree with over here.
If we are to present the premise that David Luiz is a better midfielder than he is a centreback, then we would not be further off the mark. It was inductive reason and personal curiosity that evidently brought Benitez to test Luiz within as DM. Results? Not very good.
Luiz is frequently bypassed within midfield. Like Jay Spearing compared to Lucas, he seems to know only how to stick and harry onto one man while letting the whole other attack being unscreened and thus carrying on into the original midfield bypass. His role as a DMF is also supposed to be covering for the fullbacks or midfield (depending on the positional play) but he is usually seen dawdling out of position or advancing forward off the ball into aimless space where the attack isn't predicted to even proceed.
When he chooses to distribute, he is either running aimlessly from the back into dangerous spaces, and proceeds to lose the ball followed by a track back, to which he does well yet shouldn't redeem him in making the same mistake over and over. His distribution itself is either composed of failed hollywood passes or passes into passages of play to where the ball isn't needed. Though...he does supply the flanks very well of his distribution when the fullbacks proceed off the midway line.
You would think, since he is not a very notable CB, that he would perform within midfield yet he doesn't choose to read the midfield like a DMF or even modern DMF would considering he has never shown those traits.
Frankly, saying he is a good DMF is similar to how Chelsea fans find Orbital Romeu a good midfielder, despite being considerably average. He is made to look even better in Chelsea's midfield since his talented play is rather refreshing to their bland dual pivot. Works v smaller teams yet he has been continually exposed v big teams in pressured situations, to which it does not take a trained eye to negate the difference.
Centreback? I do like Luiz' discipline to stay with his man, yet since he is defensively inept in the air, its often to see him outjumped by his marker or embarrassed when coming across an attacker who possesses the Footballing IQ to implement timing and guile within their repertoire to beat their man.
He does excel in making last tackles within the last line of defence yet majority of the play is caused by his positional ignorance and indecisiveness to advance upon an attacker or anticipate. Another Defence 101 rule broken. A CB isn't judged by if he makes mistakes or not as David isn't that clumsy, but should be judged on how poorly he optimizes on the choices presented to him, to which he is often wrong and sometimes severely compromises his partners position and track in the process. Of course he would look better in Chelsea's CB line considering after Terry, they don't really have another CB & frankly doesn't hold a candle to JT. Iva is not even close to that the way he plays.
What he is though, is a very talented individual with some remarkable skill within his feet, though obviously not developed properly in methods to calibrate his best position. People seem to be swayed by ball-playing CBs these days though to be fair, end up criticizing the wrong ones. They attempt to add the same rating of Luiz as onto Bonnuci, Hummels, Agger, & to an extent Pique yet there is a forgotten element in how to seamlessly blend your ball playing skills onto your advantage when it comes to defence, instead of ignoring Defensive 101 rules subsequently. Its why people are wrong to criticize Mats Hummels and do it for the wrong reasons. Yet to an eye who sees the obtuse mistakes within Luiz' game, its not far off the mark.
Superb talent (if we go by commercial skill[Yawn]) above average footballer but below average footballing IQ.
Barca need to look beyond him.

Man City have apparently reached an agreement to sign Fernandinho for £42m.
Pathetic lol, Mancini would've won the title had he gotten these players last season.

£42m(49.2m Euros) for Fernadinho
City could buy Vidal or a number of better/younger DM/CM with that money. I really don't want him anyways.
- Spoiler:
- City were interested and should have just activated Javi release clause last year

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.III
I actually like Fernandinho and I believe it would be an excellent purchase if he is confirmed, however the price.
It will be rather amusing watching Shakhtar pocket over 100 million euros for Willian, Fernandinho and Mkhitaryan then replacing them all for a grand total of 15.
