Messi wins European Golden Shoe 12-13
Messi wins 12-13 European Golden Shoe-award as league top scorer in Europe with 46 goals. It's his 3rd which is more than anyone else has. It also breaks the record of the difference between the first and second with 12 goals, as the second one was Cristiano Ronaldo with 34 goals. The old record of 11 goals happened in 76-77, between Georgescu with 47 goals and Varady with 36 goals. Which is quite unbelievable considering that Messi was injured or half fit the last 2 months of the season.

I do care. It's incredible that no one won it more than two times until now. This shows objectively that it is hard to do so and further adds to Lionel Messi's legend. The best player in history. It would be a tragedy if he didn't finish his career with at least 3 more CL and some important international title.

Most of what you're saying is truth but nothing new . I would understand if some people get fed up by Messi lol , actually not by him but by comments like this one.

Well, not really. he already has won more than 80% of the others players.
Even if he doens't any title from now but still play at that level i'd still see him as the greater player i've seen.

I think he absolutely can. But I think it also matters who you guys buy this summer as far as players and manager. He could end up in a system that doesn't launch him forward like Mou's did or with players that don't "mesh" with his style. Who knows, but Ronaldo can deff do it

I agree. But with Messi being as good as he is it'll be difficult. If he does do it it would be a testament to his ability for sure

Messi wont be putting that many goals in next season - Neymar + another good forward will take over. Messi to drop deeper and start playmaking alot more from now on.

That might actually be better for Barca in the long run. Messi would still score bucket loads of goals though.

Why would a team with so many play makers and so few finisher would force their best finisher to play deep?
It's not going to happen

4 goals in total in 11 CL semi-finals + 2 CL finals + 4 Copa America games on home soil + 5 World Cup games (22 games alltogether). Bit of a big game choker this Messi lad.

And also we don know how we are going to format our team. Neymar on wing would not decrease Messi's scoring opportunity that much...Alexis being a better finisher could take his goals tally to near 20 without taking any of Messis 46 goals....

Re: Messi wins European Golden Shoe 12-13
Well, really nice job by Messi. But if you look at the numbers in the table, one can pretty much see that these amazing stats are more of less due to the way Spanish teams are set up in general (first four places contain the three top Spanish teams): they go for one extraordinary scorer, while the other players are more or less water carriers for him.
If you compare Barca with Bayern, you have Messi with 46 of 111 league goals, while Bayerns top scorer Mario Mandzukic has just 15 of 98 goals and Thomas Müller as second comes in with 13 goals. I think, while Messi is standing out, he only can score that many goals as the team is set up around him. This actually goes for CRonaldo at Real Madrid, too.
If you look at Messi in a different setup that is not completely geared towards him (Argentine NT), he is still good, but not that effective at all (31 goals in 75 games for Argentina so far). Same goes for CRonaldo with 38 goals in 102 games for Portugal.

Messi is scoring a lot with argentina now. He didn't use to score that much because he use to play as midfielder. (he still kind of does that now, but he is more advanced)
Anyway, I don't understand much the whole idea of the team geared towards him. Yes, he plays through the center and he is the main forward of the team. but that can be said about many players. Being the centrefoward of a team doesn't mean the entire team is playing for you.
The whole illusion of the team playing for him comes, in my opinion, from the huge difference in quality between him and the rest of the team. People who are in love with the idea that winning can only be the result of a collective effort have a hard time a accepting that a single individual has largely define the success of an historical team. And when they see matches being won consistently by Messi, while his teammates struggle to keep high form, they simply assume that they are working for him.
I'm willing to concede that Messi is indeed the player with the smallest defensive contribution of the team. And That his teammates work a lot harder than he does to recover the ball. But i fail to see how his offensive input in the result of anybody but himself. the vast majority of his goals, and even his teammates goals are a result of his ability to disrupt defences either through dribbling, passing, or off the ball movements. You could even argue that Messi is aiding his teammates perform more than they help him, as his ability to draw defenders realeses his teammates of theirs marks and forces opposite teams to stay defensive (like Agnst PSG). He is also the most dangerous passer of the team leaving his companions many times in one on one situations.
Another argument would be barcelona system increases possession giving him more touches. But that is less notorious this last season and also aids the other barcelona offensive players, not just Messi. And none of them performs even close to his level.

Re: Messi wins European Golden Shoe 12-13
Spanish top weights are set up to suit Messi and Ronaldo because they are godamn best players in the world. Bayern didnt build it on Mandzukik because he is ordinary and not worth a team build around him.
