Re: Margaret Thatcher dies - 87 years
She did rule like she already had dementia, though. The UK will never recover from what she did to the unions. No wonder bankers make gazillions while average wages stagnate. Good riddance, Maggie.
Of course this was her as a politician, where she was pure evil.
I'm sure her family will miss her dearly, and everyone deserves to rest in peace.

I don't think you will find a person in Liverpool too sad about this news.

Well she tried her absolute best to ruin scotland and the rest of Britain too, she stepped on businesses and the less fortunate. I have no sympathy for the idiotic Woman but I leave my sympathies with her loved ones. It's not their fault that they were related to that.

lol there is more likely to be a minutes laughter than a minutes silence.
I have never met a person who has a nice word to say about her.

Barton nailed it to be honest.
she's hated in the north of England, and much less hated in the south.

What a sick sick type of people they must be
Hundreds gather in Glasgow for 'party' to mark Thatcher's death
Glasgow City Council has urged anyone planning to celebrate the death of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher to "stay away" from George Square.
Social media websites were flooded on Monday afternoon following Mrs Thatcher's death from a stroke in London — with many planning a party to celebrate her passing.
One group on Facebook, Thatcher's Deed - Party in George Square - Tonight!, had more than 1000 followers saying they would be marking her passing in the civic space on Monday night, with a further 6500 people invited.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "We're aware of the reports of a gathering in George Square and will police appropriately."
Glasgow City Council issued a statement urging revellers to "stay away".
The statement read: "Regardless of whether or not it's appropriate to have a party to celebrate someone dying, this event was organised without involvement or consent from the council and we have safety concerns for anyone attending.
"Organisers of legitimate events must get permission to use the square. They must also satisfy the council that they will take safety precautions such as providing first aiders, sufficient public toilets and stewards, as well as obtaining public liability insurance. We urge people to stay away."
However, by early evening there were reports of around 100 people gathered in the square.
One person in attendance, Joshua Brown from the Unite the Resistance movement, said: "We're having a great time, down here. We have banners, placards, a sound system — there's a real celebratory atmosphere!"
Other protesters said they were "here to celebrate the death of a woman with blood on her hands — for the Falklands and miners".
In 2011, Glasgow band Mogwai released an album called Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will which featured a track entitled George Square Thatcher Death Party that some say formalised the notion of such an event in the consciousness of many protest groups.

If you had multiple members of your family lost their livelihoods, homes etc so she could have her revenge you would be out with them.
Don't forget she also hated football fans, you wernt even a human to her. Just a hooligan criminal that deserved to be beaten by the police and locked up.

Yes, celebrating the death of a democratically elected person because of their policies is great. Shows that they were right all along. She was PM three times btw.
The north is unemployed because they are not competitive enough, they just wanted everyone to sink with them in the same ship. The miners wanted to bring the country done by force and intimidation.
Thatcherism played a huge role in why emerging markets and the globe registered such strong growth from the 1990s to now, even when taking account of the 08 recession. Its not thatchers fault that some people couldnt not fit into the newly emerged knowledge economy.

Why the ad hominem?
Besides if you look at the statement I made it clearly states the military

Yes, because people forced into military service are clearly guilty by simple association with the military.
Pointing out hypocrisy is fairly applicable in this situation.

You mean the same military that enslaves millions of innocent north koreans, kidnaps japanese and south koreans from their countries and threatens to attack the US? Maybe we shouldnt have bombed the nazis or the japanese imperial army while we offer compassion for those that imprison, threaten and kill.
You are really going to compare my call for bombing them to celebrating the death of an old woman because you didnt like her economic policies?
This is a crazy comparison and you know it. If Obama passed away I would never celebrate it, I would actually be sad because apart from his policies he seems like a decent person. I am sure there wasnt this euphoria between liberals when Reagan passed away either.

Obama didn't work to cover up a tragedy and blame innocent civilians for the mistakes and corruption of the police either though.

Still has Bradley Manning, Gitmo, Awlaki and whole lots of drone attacks of innocent people though.
There are policy mistakes and lack of strategic vision and then theres active use of violence, threatening, imprisonment and death.
I trust that you can see the difference.
Would the celebration of the death of any US president be close to acceptable?

Re: Margaret Thatcher dies - 87 years
No expert at all on the situation, but didn't Thatcher just speed up a process that the forces of economics had already set in motion anyway?
The UK is a capital abundant/labor scarce nation - based on comparative advantage they were always going to end up with an economy based on knowledge rather than manufacturing, no?
The manufacturing jobs were always going to disappear sooner rather than later unless the government intervened to protect them...the consequences of which: higher prices, lower domestic consumption, transfer of consumer surplus to producers/government etc

Re: Margaret Thatcher dies - 87 years
I will certainly concede that Obama has more than a few skeletons in his presidential closet already (I walked right into that one) just as I'm sure you'll admit that those who are not mourning Thatcher's passing have more motivation than just her economic policies for their stance.
For the record, I do not feel strongly one way or the other on Thatcher's death. I'm shedding no tears but neither am I enthused. I simply believe that to be supportive of war, wherein innocent life is consistently lost, while chastising others for voicing their opinions on a single death is just a teensy bit contradictory.
