WOO HOOO!
Those penalties, really took guts and he took them so well , completely buried them! First to equalise and then to it! God!

Stop this nonsense, he was invisible for 90 minutes and apart from 3 goals and 1 assist he did nothing else

That's basically his game these days. Outside flashes of brilliance (that to his credit usually wins games) he's mostly stationary and invisible.

Dude, he was being ironic. Messi provided 4 or 5 amazing through balls, link up play, driblings, scored two penalties and scored an open play goal. He was fantastic and saying it was some "moments of brilliance" is ridiculous.

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club
McAgger you are right about that for most parts, but not for last game. He did all he should've done plus some more - it was old Messi. He was not walking the pitch and was even putting slight pressure.

Do you know what the source for assists is? Seen a few different numbers around
128 assists by following Opta's method. [deflected passes & pens won are NOT included].
Including rebounds, pens won etc its: 152.
These stats are in official Barcelona games only...

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club
This kid has got talent and could be a little starlet. Let's not put too much pressure on him though as he's so young and naive. Who knows, maybe one day he'll be spotted by a big club and we could be seeing him on our screens in a few years. Good luck in big bad world of football young Messi!

- Spoiler:
Messi has the best weight on passes that I've ever seen, they slow to perfection. It's just ridiculous.
- Spoiler:
Dat backspin.
- Spoiler:
See the difference here when Fabregas just shoots it at Messi, though probably knowing that Messi can catch it.

Re: The Lionel Messi Appreciation Thread & Fan Club
Was watching a video that had all of his and Ronaldinho's highlights and skills, and Ronaldinho was amazing skills and some things even Messi might not be able to do, but Messi's speed, power and the ability to score consistently and make the killer pass means hes just even better and produces end results - goals.
Obviously cant really compare with the players in the past, but I think its pretty clear he is the best ever player. hard to imagine anyone in history can be this good.

I can say this without any regrets, he is an elite passer and easily the best final ball passer in the world. Noone comes close. And the thing is he does it when he is under so much pressure. Iniesta is the closest to him.

According to Valkyra he only does predictable throughballs to the left winger and Özil is a better passer.

I hused to think that but really, who else is he going to pass to when he is the highest man up front. His passing range is displayed in Argentina. It's the weight of the pass as well. Best passer after Maradona. Maradona had more variety.

Cesc, Coutinho, David Silva, Mata, Ozil, Totti & Pirlo all have better final passes. Messi is definitely up there though.

Go home Gil you are drunk. Messi is far more consistent with his and does it from far more tighter spots and his are more accurate. Cesc?
Non of them are even close. Messi's final ball is easily the best. Pirlo? Pirlo has acres of space when he does his killer balls where as Messi is surrounded by like 3-5 players. No contest. Mata? Are you *bleep* kidding me? Please don't ever mention that useless players name near Messi's. Messi again has a better final ball than that ovverated clown. Only one that can compare is Totti but Totti needs more room again and the weight of the pass is not as good. Ozil Just because that is all he is good at doesn't make him the best. Messi is far better again. Try again fella.

Özil ain't even that good in his passes.
He messes up simple passes every now and then.

Sadly, Messi's passing is rarely mentioned even that its as impressive as his goals ratio & dribbling...
Nowadays, its all about goals!

I am just glad he has that in him. Also, his vision is up there with the greats. This only means he will have longer career at top by moving more to the middle once his speed and strength goes down due to age.

Ozil is better than him in passing department imo. Not taking anything away from Messi, who's amazing as well.
