The official Volleyball thread
but there is only one way to find out.
I picked this sport up about 1 1/2 years ago and it has instantly become a passion of mine. It has gotten to the point where it has overtaken that number one in my sports heart (football is a close second). There is just something I enjoy about picking up a sport and doing my best to learn the ins and outs of said sport. I think these experiences are excellent for my life seeing as I am often forced out of my comfort zone - something I do not do often enough in my everyday life. Playing socially is one thing, but a few months ago I began attending advanced open play session (you will encounter a lot of players who have done this at a college level or who have been playing since a young age).
I feel as if I am finally finding my own volleyball identity - even though I am only 5'7 1/2 (167 cm) I have found my home as a outside hitter. I have been fortunate enough to be blessed with some amazing people who have helped me improve. One person in particular has really taken the lead as my main "coach" and to be honest, I am not sure where I would be without him. I have literally had to start from scratch and the most difficult aspect has been trying to get good muscle memory going (not easy when you have to learn everything). You really do not have a lot of time to think when you are out on the court and positioning/rotation is so important (although that is probably the case in many team sports).
I figured I would create this thread for anyone who plays the sport, or for anyone who is interested in playing and/or learning about the sport.
Lexi Erwin - the lady from my avatar and my personal favorite player. Her and the Michigan team really grew on me during this past NCAA tournament.

Re: The official Volleyball thread
So I got to play in this leagues semifinal/final last night - basically the 4 champions from each division play each other for the crown of all crowns. Division 1 plays Division 4 in the first semi final and then Division 2 play Division 3 to decide the finals match up. We (Division 4) ended up losing to Division 1 (the team that scores the point in the video I will post). It was lots of fun and it's always nice to go up against people with a higher skill level. Enjoy...
Also some footage from the Women's final...

Re: The official Volleyball thread
Volleyball is a very popular sport in Argentina and I used to play it back in high school.
Good to see you're enjoying it. It is not an overly physical sport but height has always been my disadvantage (I'm 167cm also).
It is definitely becoming more and more popular in the States.
