Palmeiras turn down Del Piero

There are reports Alessandro Del Piero could leave Sydney FC, but Palmeiras assure “we are not interested.”

The former Juventus legend has been linked with several Brazilian clubs over the last few weeks.

“An agent asked me if I was interested in Del Piero, but to be honest I didn’t think about it for long,” revealed Palmeiras director Jose Carlos Brunoro.

“I think it would be very complicated, because we are talking about a foreign player who is 38 years old, so we are not interested.

“Players like Del Piero or Francesco Totti would be exceptional from a marketing point of view, but we cannot sign players just for the marketing.”
