we're in DEEP trouble if we go into the season with Gibbs starting at LB.

We will be screwed if we don't buy a replacement
Gibbs is a left back as much as he is a goalkeeper.
Baines is who I'd like.

Re: Left Back
liverpool is also looking for a left back so the prices are really going to be inflated.
Baines would be ideal but he will not come until wenger is prepared to spend 15+ million

Re: Left Back
Bastos is another possible replacement.
I am going to be extremely unhappy if after months of speculation we will just go with Gibbs.

Yeah..
Cheaper option is Enrique. 8mil is the touted fee. I wouldn't mind him. But dammit, he wants to move to Liverpool, last I checked.

Re: Left Back
Accoring to Young Guns, Gibbs wanted more first team assurences before he signed a new contract.
Now Clichy is gone...
I've got a bad feeling.

Re: Left Back
Speaking of his move to Eastlands, Clichy said: “I’m really happy to be joining such a great club. I hope I can add to the quality we already have here because we have a fantastic squad who I believe will continue to get better.
“I can’t wait to get started and I think anything is possible with this team.”
Clichy also revealed that in joining the Blues, he will be re-joining two of his best friends in football.
“When I first came to England, it was Kolo Toure and Patrick Vieira who took me under their wing and really looked after me,” he said.
“Kolo would pick me up and drop me at home and his wife used to cook meals for me. Patrick was always there to offer me advice so it’s wonderful to be back and at the same club they are at.”
Clichy will be officially unveiled during the forthcoming tour of the USA and Canada

Gibbs first choice, one of Jenkinson, Botelho or Traore as back-up.

i won't mind Vertonghen or Kos moving to Left Back..... if wenger is in the market for a pure wingers like Gervinho, then we don't really need Left Backs that bomb down the wings

Oh yes we do!! How else will Chelsea/United/any other half competent team score against us on the break every single time otherwise?imalegend wrote:if wenger is in the market for a pure wingers like Gervinho, then we don't really need Left Backs that bomb down the wings

Re: Left Back
We are still short in defence.. We have enough problems as it is with our center backs, moving one of them to a full back is just a receipe for disaster.
We HAVE to sign two defenders now. A CB AND a FB. Great.

Join the club.
1. We need to strengthen our squad and everyone knows this. We take a step backward and sell one of our few experienced players. For a paltry 7million. We wouldn't sell if it wasn't the last year of his contract, but we put ourselves into a position where he has the option to move. Wonderful.
2. He rubs salt into the wound by moving to City, of all teams. Mind you, I have no problem with the way he handled the situation, but I do hate the fact that another one of our invincibles has moved to a PL rival club.
3. His parting words give me a feeling that he has lost hope of Arsenal ever landing any silverware. He talks about how good city is and how much he looks forward to winning with them and how there is no limit for their team. WHAT OF ARSENAL?
I just have a really sour taste in my mouth. Not a good day.

Too bad he is at spuds. No way they'd sell him. Arsenal are his childhood club and him and walcott are good friends. Unfortuntately, no way this is happening. Redknapp would rather kill himself than sell to a PL rival, more so Arsenal.

Money talks, the sad thing is Arsenal is not the team that would pay the price for Bale.

Re: Left Back
I couldn't care less if he was playing for Spurs. The fact is Bale is worse than Gibbs at left back and to play him there would be a waste of his abilties.

What about Eboue, do think he could play that position, if he is called upon?
