Agger switched off when they scored, but what a hit by Sturridge. This game is evenly balanced, three points definitely possible. Great to see that we have learnt from the Arsenal game and have been playing 4-4-1-1 with Suarez in the hole.

yeah Agger was definitely to blame for the first goal, but so were all the lads on the right just ball watching and let Milner to get in that position.

67 mins gone. We are by far the better team. Anything other than 3 points would be a disappointment. We could realistically come away with nothing.

Both goals were great. 20 and 30 yards, respectively?

Re: Man City vs Liverpool
FFS renia go back to the sunday leagues with that rubbish.
Can we ever not let our guard down and lose a game because a moment of sheer utter rubbish. I'm over this domination crap and always dropping points because we can't keep some composure at the back.
Also WHAT A STRIKE from gerrard. Classic stevie G.
Absolutely disappointed from today's game. We should be walking away from 3. Please bring back last years defenders.

Rodgers is the worst manager at keeping 1 goal leads. Seriously breaking up your CB partnership is the worst you could do in that situation. I thought Skrtel should have just dealt with the ball himself and Reina shouldn't come out. Idiotic defending
Stug MOTM
Agger plays amazingly every game BUT always makes one stupid mistake that costs us the game. Needs to sort himself out.
Glen was a beast also

Incredibly frustrated with this. Reina absolutely murdered me, I'm beyond angry. So sick of dropping points in absolutely stupid ways.

Re: Man City vs Liverpool
It's a point, but with the same kind of "if only..." feeling as the point against Arsenal. Could have and probably should have won. Reina
Gerrard's goal was amazing.
But, what makes this draw more positive in a way than the Arsenal one is that our performance was much better. Credit to Rodgers for changing from the Arsenal game and playing both Suarez and Sturridge centrally now. If we can reproduce today's performance we should start picking up full points from our next games.

Let's just blame Rodgers for cancer as well.
Unfit left back had to be subbed, did the best thing he could, bring on skertel and shift agger. Renia has a second of madness for running out that far when he didn't have too, but it's all rodgers fault.

Statisticians Opta on Twitter: "8 - Since the start of last season Jose Reina has made eight errors leading directly to a goal in the Premier League. Misjudge."

Re: Man City vs Liverpool
we really need a new goalkeeper in the summer window, at least to give him tough tough competition. What on frackkking earth reina was thinking at that time
these momentary blunders by one of the players causing points every time, is becoming like a habbit now. But all these performances give us a hope that we are really moving forward. I was so happy that BR got it pefect today!!!
If we play like this throughout the remaining season, we can do wonders

First of all that was after match tempers speaking. Second, it is no secret that we can't keep a 1 goal lead, and I could bet my house that Rodgers is probably the worst manager in our history at keeping 1 goal leads (ratio wise). It's happened so many times this year that now it has become a problem. Please don't tell me that breaking your CB partnership during a game was a masterclass by Rodgers because that was his big mistake tonight. The game-plan was great from the beginning, but he ruined it for himself. Sure bring on Skrtel and play 3 CB's but don't send your best defender to LB.

"best defender" made the massive mistake that led directly to the first goal... wouldn't say he did anything to look immovable today.

Re: Man City vs Liverpool
I dont think that breaking the CB partnership has to do anything with the second goal because as I remember skrtel was going for the ball but it was reina's call that he went for it and then skrtel backed off . I think it was purely an individual error prone goal, happened due to wrong judgement. Moving agger to the right did not do much harm (may be attacking wise because he is not a natural LB) as the second goal was not scored from a cross from right hand side but it could happen only due to sheer brilliance of sergio.

Whether you like it or not, that mistake prone guy is still our best defender. And I thought he was very solid apart from the mistake. Like I already mentioned Agger has brilliant games which get marred by a stupid mistakes that costs points. He really needs to eliminate those lapses from his game.

Re: Man City vs Liverpool
Much much better performance than the deer in headlights Arsenal performance. We actually took the match to the Etihad and knew the continuous approach of attack would cause a frail City man problems given how prone they are to concede when pressed and laced with the oppositions pace.
Its a sign of positivity to see Sturridge and Suarez combine to effortlessly while Sturridge has also shown to possess a big game mentality with excellent goals vs United down two goals and equalizing for Liverpool again, but this time vs the blue half of the city.
Gerrard once again was absolute magnificent and took advantage of Toure's absence and capped it off with a vintage goal which had me screaming in nostalgic tears.
Agger quite obviously is off form and low on confidence just like his fellow CB partner, Skrtel. This is not only worrying but it may result in a potential rotation of our best CB partnership to make room for a resurging Carragher who once again had an excellent game.
Johnson was one of our best players in defence and attack as epitomized the continuous flow of attack that we stuck to a weakened Man City.
But of course, when we are a goal up vs a big side we seem to have the mentality of ...Stewart Downing (he was absolutely invisible once again with a timid performance). Like Skrtel last year trying his best attempt for Tevez to score, our "Sweeper" Keeper Pepe had to approach Aguero for no reason despite being covered by our line. He paid dearly. Not only it ruined our chance once again to prove ourselves vs a big team, it stole the thunder of Sturridge and Gerrard's goal. Thank you Pepe. Thank you for another 2-2.
Nonetheless many positives to be taken from this match as we have finally found a working midfield who compliment each other, our fullbacks performing in excellent tandem and our front line causing massive havoc (bar the clown from middlesborough).
Our decision to mirror Mancini's eventual 3-5-2 was an interesting one as although it cost us in wide positions, we seemed to look more compact on the defensive side while supplying the mezzala's wide far better.
