Llorente to Juventus
Now that Llorente signed for Juve (he will be transferred in July, though) what's Juve missing to become a serious CL contender? Or are they set?

Re: Llorente to Juventus
They already are CL contenders ( even without Llorente IMO ) but with him they are set. Although Pirlo will be another year older so they do need to try and do something about that. But i guess Pogba will step up.

Re: Llorente to Juventus
Are set imho, missing maybe the star power of other teams, but IMHO they don't field any scrubs neither, and I've preferred having no weaknesses over having a couple massive strengths.
Plus they have a great, solid foundation with their defense, and the likes of Vidal, Pirlo etc.
That being said, watching them play Lazio ATM, and since I don'T really follow Serie A:
Can a Serie A supporter, or watcher, quickly tell me if Klose is injured or just benched? ^^

Re: Llorente to Juventus
They're not contenders because there are at least 4 teams with a higher chance of winning it than them (Barca, United, Bayern and Real) and they have looked far from convincing in the group stages. I think they'll go far, but I don't think they are considered "contenders" for this edition.
In any case I think they would still lack a SS to partner up Llorente. Vucinic or Giovinco are not good enough.

Re: Llorente to Juventus
Agree with BC ultimately. They are still a shade below those 4 sides as they have not been ruthless enough in the group stages.
That said, Llorente looks to be the missing link, but that's going to really depend on quickly he can acclimate himself to Serie A. We all thought very highly of talents like Diego and Krasic prior to moves like this so I would be a bit cautious if I was a Juve fan, tbh.

I believe they have a fantastic defence which includes their GK, a fantastic midfield and someone like Llorente completes the team as they are a bit thin imo in the strike area.

I think Juve are much better than Yanited tbh. Dortmund for me have a higher chance than Yanited.

The Spanish Darren Bent.
I don't think he'll do anything of note....
they should have just gone bollox with Cavani in summer. just spank all their budget on him.

Darren Bent? - that's just a weird comparison. It screams "I've never watched this dude play, so I'll just liken him to some relatively average English journeyman striker"

Actually my bad.
his scoring rate is a lot worse than Darren Bent.
More like the Spanish Benteke
Juve don't need a all rounded forward, they needed a ruthless finisher.
Is Llorente a ruthless finisher ? I he f*ck

They lack a player who can decide a game IMO... someone like Jovetic or even Cavani would be good.

Re: Llorente to Juventus
I don't think Llorente's signing really improves the attack all that much. I just don't consider him of the caliber of a Suarez, Aguero, Benzema, Cavani etc.
They need a striker of that class to really cement their position as a top team.
Maybe I'll be surprised, I'll reserve judgment until Llorente actually has an opportunity to play for Juventus but this is just my initial feelings toward the signing

Re: Llorente to Juventus
Juve need the right player. Someone who can finish the chances they create. Someone who can fit in their team.
Their midfielders charge the box alot- someone who can find those guys is going to be valuable. One of the things that stood out to me the few times I've watched them is how reluctant they are to get down the wing despite the fact that space opens up there.
He lets Lichestiner and Assamoah have a target, gives Pirlo and the midfielders an incentive to find them and in turn frees up their play. It helps that he's not going to be the only target either since Marchisio and Vidal crash the box.
What did you call Torres before he signed for Pool lol? The Spanish Heskey?

Re: Llorente to Juventus
^ He can have them have targets all he wants, but as long as he is unable to finish on regular basis, it's all useless.
Suarez was rightly criticized last year, because despite all his sexy football, he couldn't score in a brothel.
Bar 1.5 years or so in his career, Llorente hasn't shown he can be a ruthless finisher.
Tell me why he didn't get a single minute of action in Euros where Villa was absent, and an abject Torres got the nod ahead of him ALL THE TIME.
He is a decent striker in mould of Defoe (whom I rate), but he isn't a game changer who can make a very good team (Juve), and EXCELLENT team.

Re: Llorente to Juventus
Top transfer.Cant go much wrong with a free signing.
Think he's a perfect fit for the system also.Someone who's good at holding up the ball and is able to contribute to overall play. And finally we'll have someone who can get on the end of the wingbacks' crosses as he's renowned to be a beast in the air.
Its not like Juve are paying him enormous wages either.€4.5m per year seems pretty reasonable for a Bosman signing.Great job from Marotta.

Re: Llorente to Juventus
people moan about prem-faces on GL, but la liga fan boys are as bad to be honest. (See dnmac)
Llorente, as the Juve fan stated, isn't in bracket of world class strikers in the world.
Juve are a nearly world class team, only lacking world class striker. Llorente isn't that. He'll improve them, but won't take them to world class level.

Re: Llorente to Juventus
Yeah, I think there is a gap between "world class" and Darrent Bent for godness sake.
Does it really matter anyway if he is inside this imaginary bracket or not?
Nobody called Etoo world class before he went to Barca.
Everyone called Ibra world class before we went to Barca.
Look what happened to each.
He is a very good player, Juve should feel lucky to have him, especially for more or less nothing.
