Well deserved when he signed the contract. Was one of the best AMs in the world.

He is coming back to that level.

He keeps getting injured as soon as you see signs of form.... he's lost a lot of pace though and he didn't have a ton to begin with.

I take it you have never seen him play.

At no stage in his career did he ever reach a 6.8 mil level. Not ever.

He raped Ligue 1 and CL for two seasons. Was absolutely devastating. Dat pure hate that's reeking in this thread.

Yeah. That run Bordeaux made to CL semis was all on his shoulders. He absolutely bossed... which is why every France NT coach keeps an eye on him. There just aren't that many players that can reach that level.

If what he did was rape, then El Sharaawy is absolutely defiling Serie A (which is he is not doing). The guy in your avatar is twice as good as him and don't earn half of what he earns.

I have seen him play many times but he has never at any stage been a WC AM and everytime he has a good couple of games you see " GOURCUFF IS BACK!111!!!!!1!11" NEW ZIDANE!!!11!!!!!"

In reality he isn't that good, unfortunately people still hold hope that his early potential can be reached when in reality it never will.....

He's not the only one either, every time a talented kid comes around and they struggle to maintain whats expected of them people hold cling to the hope of his early potential.

Especially when he has a few good games, its also known as the Ronaldinho effect.

Before his massive injury he was easily top 5 AM in the Europe. The only player who genuinely deserved the next Zidane tag.

tbh Mole, he want on a 6 game role this season where he actually looked like his old self almost... very encouraging. In fact, DD almost called him up for the Spain game as a result. But he got injured. It's not that he hasn't recovered form from his youth at all. He's showing signs. He just needs to stay healthy.

Ronaldinho partied himself to oblivion... no such issue for Yoann. His problem is injuries and then he lost confidence. I have hope for him just as i did for RVP.

His problems are not injury, it's an awful work ethic. And he's not like Tevez that he can still be class without it.

Work ethic???? dude, you must not speak of things you do not know. That has never been his issue. It's all injuries and then confidence.

That was in Milan when he was 20... and that was mostly fabricated by Milan so somebody wouldn't steal him away lol. Thankfully, his father called Milan's bs, forced them into a move and brought his son to Bordeaux. There hasn't been one second since he arrived at Bordeaux when he was 20 that his work ethic was brought into question... not once.

Also Sports what i meant by the Ronaldinho effect is playing a few good games every now and again and people refusing to accept he will never be the same.

Kaka had this for a while too, Pato also.

It always takes people a long time to accept things like Gourcuff, Balotelli is starting to go through a similar phase, people are not willing to accept he's not actually that good.

Nostalgia has a funny effect on the brain.

How can you compare Balo, who has never been injured, to Gourcuff, who has suffered injury after injury. I mean seriously. At least compare generally similar circumstances...

It wasn't just BS, he was always lethargic when selected, and he acted like a diva when he was not selected as well. Got into spats with the players and generally acted like he was Zidane incarcerated. Several players were in non-speaking terms with him. He still pouts when his team is losing, and generally has a lazy attitude.

Injuries of course have a lot to do with it, but perhaps he is just not good enough, and perhaps he is not working his socks off to get better.
