Indeed, it is well documented how poor he trains. A diva if I ever saw one.
That was in Milan when he was 20... and that was mostly fabricated by Milan so somebody wouldn't steal him away lol. Thankfully, his father called Milan's bs, forced them into a move and brought his son to Bordeaux. There hasn't been one second since he arrived at Bordeaux when he was 20 that his work ethic was brought into question... not once.
It wasn't just BS, he was always lethargic when selected, and he acted like a diva when he was not selected as well. Got into spats with the players and generally acted like he was Zidane incarcerated. Several players were in non-speaking terms with him. He still pouts when his team is losing, and generally has a lazy attitude.
Injuries of course have a lot to do with it, but perhaps he is just not good enough, and perhaps he is not working his socks off to get better.

I'm comparing in the sense of nostalgia making people refuse to accept they are not that good. ( compared to hype)
The reasons why people refuse to accept it are different but they still end up with the same result.

Re: Incredible fact of the day...
Players' wages shouldn't be observed out of context.
When Gourcoff signed the contract, he was coming off from two great seasons with Bordeaux, was young, wanted and the transfer fee was high (€22m according Wikipedia). All of those things strenghtened his bargaining position and made it justified to ask for such high wages. It makes sense. I suppose he hasn't lived up to expectations at Lyon, but at the time of signing the contract it was understandable that he got such a lucrative deal.

Re: Incredible fact of the day...
i heard the same thing about pogba recently when he left man u lol. According to SAF, pogba was a headcase who lacked respect for the club. The reason that he didn't play was that he didn't work hard enough. Well look at him at Juve now.
it's standard for clubs losing a young player in bad circumstances to badmout him. Just the way it is.
Never any question about Gourcuff's work ethic in france... not one. He has a peculiar personality for sure. But his pitch performance, other than his time with Puel, has been fantastic.

Its ok though RG, we all are oblivious to some player and refuse to except the reality
Also Sports what i meant by the Ronaldinho effect is playing a few good games every now and again and people refusing to accept he will never be the same.
Kaka had this for a while too, Pato also.
It always takes people a long time to accept things like Gourcuff, Balotelli is starting to go through a similar phase, people are not willing to accept he's not actually that good.
Nostalgia has a funny effect on the brain.
lol ? how can we accept he is not "good enough" when he has been one of the best CAM in France this season when fit ? Don't compare him to Balotelli. Balo's last good performance was for Italy in the summer.
There is no Nostalgia involved unless you consider 2 months ago Nostalgia

Re: Incredible fact of the day...
I already explained why i compared him to Balotelli......
Also performing in Ligue 1 don't mean much tbh also performing for 2 months don't mean much either.... which is exactly what i was talking about.
People went through a similar phase with Ronaldinho, towards the end every time he put in a good performance every one thought he was back and couldn't except he was past it and will never get back to his best.
Gourcuff is the same, he will never get back to his original percieved level no matter how much you may think he's getting back there.
Ben Arfa is the same, he will never reach the level he should have done either but people still believe.

How can you be so sure that he'll never go back to what he was? We are talking about human factor here.. I remember when I started visiting goallegacy as a gues no one was taking pirlo as a top player anymore... And now we see everywhere Pirlo praising etc...Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:I already explained why i compared him to Balotelli......

Anderson achieved 100% pass completion with his 11 passes against Leverkusen. He leads the pack of an elite few that does not include Xavi.

10 man R.Madrid without Cronaldo hammers Galatasaray, when at the same time Barcelona without Messi loses to 10 man Ajax.
Shocking difference in squad strengths.

Because it was the only thing he did, chances created + shots per 90 min:futbol wrote:Xavi created more goalscoring chances in 2010 than Maradona in 1986:

Causation does not equal correlation. This is simplifying things far too much.Harmonica wrote:10 man R.Madrid without Cronaldo hammers Galatasaray, when at the same time Barcelona without Messi loses to 10 man Ajax.

But what intrigues me is how you attempt to prove that Barcelona is more reliant on their star than Real Madrid is on their star.
What breed of Barca fan are you?

Re: Incredible fact of the day...
6.4 Cronaldo (7+18)/4futbol wrote:I bet Ronaldo tops that particular statistic easily.
Add tackles to it:
tackles + created chances + shots per 90 minutes
9.4 Messi 10 (10+16+21)/5
8.4 Maradona 86 (13+27+22)/7
7.0 Cronaldo 10 (3+7+18)/4
6.5 Xavi 10 (10+30+6)/7.06
Now this is all pretty self explanatory, where as Xavi was designated midfielder, Cronaldo designated forward, Messi was stretched from defense to attack.
I see no incredible facts in it.

Incredible statistic about "tackles and shots at goal without scoring per game". But why did you not include some more like "throw ins taken"?

You're laughing your own ingeniousness? I thought it was well known fact that Messi was overstretched, had to help defense, create chances, which also affected his finishing form.futbol wrote:Incredible statistic about "tackles and shots at goal without scoring per game".
