well i agree with most of it apart from Adam & Gerrard's position . .i believe the positions would be interchanged there. . Adam is pretty strong & is good at long passes & we all know how good Stevie G is going forward . .actually that's how i imagine it to be

There's no defense in that midfield selection. Adam is known to take his time getting back. Gerrard and Meireles do decently, but won't be able to handle it all. I know you said at home.

With that said, it's going to be tough. For me, Lucas should definitely be a starter. A lot don't understand his contribution to the team, but he definitely is our best DM atm.

Gerrard also makes the starting lineup. That leaves at least one CM position open to Aquilani, Meireles, Adam, Henderson, Shelvey, Spearing, Poulsen or Cole.

Wtih Gerrard's recent injury record however, we can say that two positions are open.

Well i see 5 player being definite starters if fit. .Gerrard, Suarez, Lucas, Skrtel & Pepe. .the rest of the squad will chance & vary according to the opponents & strategies Kenny decides to use . .

Reina, Glen, Carragher, LB, Lucas, Gerrard, Downing, Suarez & Carroll; I expect these nine to be starters if they are fit.

I don't think Kenny will rush Kelly into first-team after such long injury lay-off. Glen has done well under Kenny and he will start at RB with Kelly as cover.

I have a feeling Kenny believes Carragher still got what it takes to be a starter. Unless we sign a CB who can claim first-team spot, he will go with Carragher-Skrtel at CB.

The idea of signing a quality LB is to ensure stability in that position.

Gerrard is the captain, so he has to start. Lucas, as cover for the defence, is vital to allow other mid-fielders, R&LB and attackers to focus on attack. The remaining spot will be subject to form, fitness & strategy.

Like the LB position, the very notion of signing Downing is to add another edge to our attack and to ensure stability, he will start.

Lucas is a definite starter.

Lucas doesnt need to start at home

You obviously have no idea what Lucas brings to this squad.

I think, there will be certain games, where Lucas may be rested at home.....I think, the point of squad depth is that everone can get a rest once in a while. that's something Fergie has done in years, and the best time to rest Lucas, is at home against a shit team

If we play bigger teams at home then yes, but if were playing the likes of wigan or fulham then we dont need lucas. we struggle to break the smaller teams down at home but when we go all out it usually works

It looks like Reina, Gerrard & Suarez will miss first few games of the season. This, and the given state of our transfer (no LB) what will be the formation for the first few games!!!

The bench will look like this (unless some of them aren't sold or sent on-loan): GK, Kelly, Spearing, Maxi, Henderson & Ngog.

Reina is fine. He'll play first day back. Is AA your 7th player? You only put 6 on the bench.

Reina has only just stated he's targeting a return against Valerenga, he'll be fine for the Sunderland match.

& also there is a chance i guess of Stevie G returning against Valencia! ! So, its only Suarez who might be missing out. . .as Lucas would return soon & he has been suspended for the upcoming Brazil friendly . .

Now if these players are not ready i do not see any reason for rushing them in to the first team! ! I mean we have the new guns hopefully blazing in all cylinders by then! ! Specially Suarez can rest after the extended workout! So that we can have him fit for Arsenal! !

All see the great thing about our new transfers is that even without Suarez, Gerrard & Lucas we look like a formidable attack! !

Edit: specially for teams like Sunderland . .

Seeing some tweets regarding Hendo now being needed to fill in the shoes of Stevie G. . . well i sort of feel Adam will get the nod over Hendo!

now considering our backups in midfield it won't be harm tremendously . . .but then again Captain Fantastic is one & only! ! !

If Reina is ready for season-opener, that will be a BIG boost. Frankly, I will not trust Doni even against C2 teams. If Gerrard & Reina are ready, then we should field our first XI for the last two friendlies.

Hope Kenny don't keep playing the reserves & dead-woods.

That's why I didn't keep Gerrard in the previous formation. But you mis-led me.

Even I will look world-class in pre-season. Just check the joy in Roma thread when Doni left.

Their issue with Doni is that he's inconsistent and prone to the occasional howler. He can and still is very good usually and as a backup that's all that's really necessary.

Umm imo u guys have wayyyy too many options in the center mid position. I'd play 4-1-2-1-2

It seems like u have a a squad full of great players but no formation to beneifit them :p

We don't have "no" formation.

Kenny likes to mix it up a bit. He played a 4231, 433, 442, 4411 and a 532 (or 352) when he was in charge.

Imo, we'll play either a 433 or 4231 next season.

It's good we have a lot of players to adjust to a new formation which is good if we're trying to chase a game/break down a defence.

Even still in both a 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 How do u accomadate ur players?

The thing is Suarez perfers a free rold rifting all around the wings and the center. Downing is purely a winger. Aquaman and Mierles can't tackle idk about adam.
