I'd predict that Bayern would. I think they would win the midfield battle with the Gustavo-Schweinsteiger-Kroos trident, barring injuries.

Re: Arsenal Vs Bayern Munich
Arsenal won't be the most solid defensively but if they take advantage of those breakaways from their own half (where they'll probably be for 90 minutes) they can beat Bayern.
I'm rooting for them!

The way some people are going on about it, you'd think Bayern were taking on some La Liga relegation fodder

I'm giving arsenal a lot of faith here. They have a team that if they play well will give Bayern a run for their money. Hopefully they pull through

Re: Arsenal Vs Bayern Munich
I expect Bayern to have the majority of possession. Our ball retention ain't as good as it was in the Cesc days, and with Schweini and Kroos in the midfield for Bayern you have two very good passing players.

I have to admit, this made me chuckle and hurt deep inside at the same time.
I think we will win, but I worry because RG Gunner is so anti-Arsenal being successful that I think it's been his plan the entire time just so they can pull out this one victory.

Re: Arsenal Vs Bayern Munich
Time of Possession will favor Bayern imo, quite easily. Even at the Emirates, we'll probably only have the ball 40-45% of the time.
True. We(usually) get up for big CL matches. Plus this is in February, hopefully we'll be in better form.
No doubt Bayern fans should be confident though, considering how well they've played this season, and how we didn't get a shot on Schalke until ET in our defeat against them. And Schalke has given up almost 4x as many goals in Bundesliga.
To me, there's 2 possibilities, we get destroyed from the opening whistle and lose by 4 goals(even at the Emirates), or we play them tough. That said, if we can draw or even go back to Munich 1 goal down, it'll be a success I feel.
I also want to see Poldi score against Bayern. Would be awesome. Has he scored against Bayern? I don't remember it if he has.
Also if we get a CF, and a DM like Capoue in Jan, I'd feel a bit better going into the tie.

Re: Arsenal Vs Bayern Munich
This is purely from memory, and Bayern fans will know better, but I think Poldi scored every time during the last 4 times he met Bayern, I think it was win, win, draw, draw or something for him. Though now that I write this, it seems unbelievable.
Any Bayern fans remember?
I'm really just sure that Podolski caused trouble 4 times in a row, and shot the goal for the 1-1 draw when they last met, not much more.

What about last season? Didn't they lose 1-4 to Bayern Munich, and Poldi didn't score. I don't know about the previous fixture though.

Wut?
December 16, 2011: Bayern 3 - Köln 0
May 5, 2012: Bayern 4 - Köln 1
February 5, 2011: Köln 3 - Bayern 2 [the 3 goal comeback!]
September 18, 2010: Bayern 0 - Köln 0
That 1-1 draw you're talking about was back in the 09/10 season, he scored that longshot iirc.

Only way i can see arsenal win this tie is actually go defensive a la chelsea but i doubt wenger would ever change his tactics , and ithink both teams would try to play football but eventually bayern will come out on top since they have superior players.

Lets see how the mighty Podolski will bring Bayern down.
You are waiting and I am among those who are also waiting.

Re: Arsenal Vs Bayern Munich
If they don't pick up an actual striker or throw Podolski in as CF finally, then Arsenal have no chance in this unless Bayern let them win.

Re: Arsenal Vs Bayern Munich
BATE 3:1 Bayern
Lille 0:1 Bayern (Bayern were awful)
Valencia 1:1 Bayern (Late Equalizer)
A trip to the Emirates is a little dangerous tbh and I really think that Arsenal will win in London. Plus if you look back to last year:
Madrid 2:1 Bayern
OM 0:2 Bayern (Back up keeper/ Neuer was a boss)
Basel 1:0 Bayern
It doesn't paint a good picture going to London... espectially with Badstuber and Boateng gone.

Well that Basel match would have normally ended 1:7 or 1:8, if it hadn't been for Yann Sommer saving each and every shot against him.
