Bayern Munich Vs Arsenal
Bayern Vs Arsenal
13th March 2013
19:45 BST kick off
Allianz Arena
Team news
Boateng and Bastian Schweinsteiger are suspended, Franck Ribéry is sidelined with a sprained ankle, but Arjen Robben is set to return after sitting out Saturday's game with a calf problem
Wenger confirmed that Wilshere will not be available because of an ankle injury sustained last week. Kieran Gibbs has not featured since suffering a thigh strain on 30 January.
Match Facts (uefa.com)
• Arsenal are Bayern's third English opponents in the last two campaigns. They met Manchester City FC in last season's group stage, winning 2-0 in Munich before losing by the same score away with qualification already assured, and then took on Chelsea FC in the final at their own Fußball Arena München.
• The penalty shoot-out defeat meant they have come off second best in three European Cup finals against English sides, losing the 1982 and 1999 finals against Aston Villa FC and Manchester United FC respectively. Bayern did beat Leeds United AFC in the 1975 final to claim one of their four European Cup successes.
• Bayern's overall record against English teams is W14 D13 L10 and at home (not including last year's final) it is W10 D5 L1.
• Their only defeat on home soil against English visitors came in the 1993/94 UEFA Cup second round when Norwich City FC won 2-1. Excluding last season's final their last four home UEFA Champions League games against teams from England have all ended in victory.
• Bayern finished top of Group F by virtue of a better head-to-head record with Valencia CF and were winners in all three home games, scoring 12 goals in the process. Jupp Heynckes' team overcame Valencia 2-1, LOSC Lille 6-1 and FC BATE Borisov 4-1.
• That 2010/11 Inter defeat is the only time in 22 UEFA competition ties that Bayern have lost overall having won the first leg away. They have won 3-1 away in the first game only once before, against Rangers FC in the 1989/90 European Champion Clubs' Cup first round; the second leg finished scoreless.
• The Gunners began the campaign with a 2-1 away win against Montpellier Hérault SC but have won only four of their last 16 UEFA Champions League away games, losing nine. They have won only one of their last 22 UEFA Champions League away matches, including qualifying, by a margin that would keep them in the competition, 3-1 at FK Partizan in the 2010/11 group stage.
• Furthermore, Arsenal have never overturned a home first-leg defeat in European competition. They have lost only one such match, against VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach in the 1996/97 UEFA Cup first round, and went down by the same scoreline away from home.
• Arsenal are unbeaten on their last three visits to Germany, drawing twice and winning 2-1 at Hamburger SV in the 2006/07 UEFA Champions League group stage.
• The Gunners' record against German sides is: W12 D5 L8; away it is W3 D4 L5

Re: Bayern Munich Vs Arsenal
-gervinho will play like crap and give the ball away countless times
-verm will make 2 or 3 game ending mistakes
-OX will be largely invisible
-ramsey will be just there, solid but ineffective in doing anything, not good enough.
too many week links in the arsenal squad.

also with us defending corners in And Around 6 yard Box Zonali we need Someone Like Giroud to block Crosses at Near Post
Ramsey can play some hard working role atleast preventing them creating overloads (3vs2/2vs1s)
Whoever on Flanks must track back all the way
just dont make it worse than it is score draw or something
if Dusseldorf can score there twice .........

Great Job RG.
Not much really to say, just hoping those who play, make us proud. Making Cl is more important than this game, resting players is a good idea. LOL, poor Faby, he is being thrown in there to get destroyed, well done Wenger.
Its sickening that we have abandon CL, Wenger should be ashamed of himself, had he invested in January or summer we would not be in this position.

Are Arsenal really going to go into the game with a line up like that?
That's not to say I disagree with it, but the question stands.

tbh I really hope a miracle can happen and Arsenal go through.
I don't hate Bayern at all.
I just have a fascination with underdogs.

I havent lost all my hopes just yet because two goals in the first half and we are back in it.

Re: Bayern Munich Vs Arsenal
Walcott rested along with Mert, Szczesny and Santi.
Sod it. Play this. (1-1-eight)
Flappy
Vermy
Coquelin
Arshavin Gervinho Podolski Giroud Rosicky Oxlade Diaby Arteta
Wonder if this will be Wenger's last CL game at Arsenal?
Pretty much waving the white flag.

Re: Bayern Munich Vs Arsenal
Santi, Theo, Chez and Mert have been left in England.
So, imagine if Bayern get an early red card? Wishful thinking...but imagine looking at our bench and seeing...NOTHING!

I just hope resting players for too long wont effect them for the weekend game. If we dont get a great result at Swansea its over.

I know what you trying to say but, its a wrong way to think. I want us to at least try and get a result. With Giroud leading the line, we would be lucky to have a shot on Target.
We will lose, I just hope its a respectful performance. Nothing will ever change Wenger, I just hope he does the right thing and leaves as soon as the season is done. I am just counting on the games that are left, and hoping I dont have to see him at Arsenal again.
